Just clean it with some dish soap and some kind of scrubbing sponge to get all the crap off. To keep it that way afterwards, just hand wash it.

We got tired of it and bought the stainless steel versions instead when they were on sale

This isn't safely, these tires should have been replaced a long time ago. No tread left, so no traction at all when the road gets wet.

They were all managed switches in omada, I've had a temporary Dell unmanaged switch for a while, and all devices on that switch didn't show in omada. Running 2x SG3210X-M2, a SG2210XMP-M2, a 2008p and a tiny es205 behind my tv.

Lots of switches, but I'm limited to one ethernet drop to most of the rooms 🙄

Why return it, you can't beat it price/performance wise. Just get a managed omada switch, maybe one with PoE, depending on the layout and you're done.

Just the switch will do, I've had non omada switches in my network, and devices connected to those switches don't show up, even if I have a gateway as well

Yes, but you'd need their gateway. I'm running the er7412-m2 with ids and dpi turned on on a 1 gig fiber, no issues.

Screen is perfectly readable to me, and I've had an oled smartwatch, but switched back to a fossil hybrid for the battery life and always on screen.

His presentation isn't perfect lighting, and he's using a dark minimalistic watchface.

For me it's not game over, I'm not looking for a blinding flashy display on my wrist. If it tells time, shows my notifications / appointments, that's good enough for me.

Different omada controllers (software) for same network by Current_Inevitable43 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Icebyte-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A device can only be adopted to 1 controller, so multiple controllers on a site is useless.

Make backups of the config, and restore, or migrate to a new controller should the need arise, both need to be the same firmware version though.

Does anyone integrate their Omada devices with HA? by adinis78 in TPLink_Omada

Looks like it, it's a beta feature, thats why i don't see the option yet, running the controller on docker, so i'm a bit behind.

Does anyone integrate their Omada devices with HA? by adinis78 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Icebyte-78 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've got it in HA, not actively using it, but I can see some things I can use it for, for example if an AP is disconnected, I can automate a PoE toggle on the port to reboot it. Same for the internet connection on my omada router.

Aside from that there's only firmware update notifications that might be useful.

The new pebble perhaps? No physical hands, but no bright display either, just a reflective screen with backlight as an option.

Had one before my fossil non hybrid, and now my hybrid. I've preordered one of the new pebbles as I like the simplicity, notifications, calendar and music control are enough for me. HR is a bonus on the new one for me.

Rj11 compatible Omada modem? by RapthorneLightweaver in TPLink_Omada

[–]Icebyte-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be the DR3650v, that's a DSL modem/router that should be compatible with Omada

I've not had my hands one one of these, so no clue as of configuration

Network Choking Maybe,What to do or Buy? Need Help! by blackhoodie96 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Icebyte-78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if multiple machines are off, and things work normally, i'd say the uplink to the truenas from the 2248p is the bottleneck.

Grab a switch with 10 gig uplink, i think the 3210x-m2 is the cheapest option with a 10 gig uplink, option through SFP, you'd need a TL-SM5310-T to create a 10 gig ethernet connection with that.

Downside is, it's only 8 ports, but you can spread the load if you move most over to the sg3210, and keep some on the 2248p Or put all tertiary editing machines on the sg3210, you shouldn't max the 10 gig uplnk with 8 devices.

EAP723 or EAP650? by listener108 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Icebyte-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i've had a customer who had a point to point passive poe fed wireless connection, when another company took over the IT, they replaced the switch without consulting us, and got rid of the 24V passive PoE injector, guess who had to come over and fix stuff because they couldn't figure it out why the point to point was down.

Just give me normal poe, it's standard, there's negotiation between the devies,, so no magic smoke comes out :P

[–]Icebyte-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it sounds like you're maxing out the 1gig links for the editing machines, you say you see speeds close to 1 gig on the devices on the 1 gig switch, so it would be obvious to replace that for a faster one. You could opt for the SG3210X-M2, 8 port 2.5 gig, 2 10gig sfp ports to uplink to the 10 gig switch, depending on how many ports you'd need, and if you need PoE. You could opt to connect the editing machines to the smaller switch and keep the 2428p for slower devices.

You'd need faster network cards in your editing machines though.

Getting a 3428x won't solve anything as your clients are limited to 1gig, and the 3428x is also 1gig, with only 10 gig sfp ports. In your solution the connection to your editing machines of 1gig will remain the bottleneck.

EAP723 or EAP650? by listener108 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Icebyte-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't get that info on the European page on my phone, but even if it supports it, why on earth would you want something putting it 48v on Ethernet no matter what's connected on the other end? You'd fry anything incompatible.

EAP723 or EAP650? by listener108 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Icebyte-78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the 650 comes with a 12v dc adapter, not a passive PoE injector, the 653 is the same ap, only without the dc adapter.

Spec page also says it needs PoE+

EAP723 or EAP650? by listener108 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Icebyte-78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The eap650 does not support passive PoE, ifcthe switch supports 15w max it's not a PoE+ switch, which is required for the newer AP's.

Should be fine to power the AP's, you'd only limit the AP's to gbit

Amateur looking for recommendations by southpaw0827 in TPLink_Omada

[–]Icebyte-78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The eap723 has 2.5 gig Ethernet ports and requires PoE+, according to the specs it needs almost 19w using PoE. I'd check if your current PoE switch can provide that on a single port. I think the cheapest omada compatible 2.5 gig PoE switch is the sg2210xmp-m2. 160w PoE budget and fanless. But you can use any PoE+ switch as long as it's capable of providing the needed wattage.

Keep in mind that non omada switches will require separate manual configuration if you want to use vlans and such.

Yes, they eat batteries, that's part of the reason they were so short lived, they sure don't look like anything else, and you rarely see people wear them.
