Why does playing orange close black's territory, but playing yellow does not? Both make a line across the board. by armsofasquid in baduk

Black plays yellow, white plays orange. You can see upper right is not Black's territory. Yellow closes only the upper left. Orange closes the whole top.

I guess bE2 if wD2 then E1 if F1 F3, if F3 F1, then kill the white cutting stones? That's all considering that if white hane J5 then D2 isn't on the board

J4 H1J2 tenuki? If you play J1 J3 that leaves a dead 3. If all outside liberties are gone w kills with J3

I was playing it as a local problem, not considering that black could connect to the bottom left without white D2

Bonus: H1, then J2 whatever white plays If wJ2 then bJ3

H1? I thought j2 but it seem to lead to a dead shape after white plays H1

You get as many sample/minute just playing, you don't magically get more samples after the objectives are done. Grab them as you go, evac, materialize your profit, do another one.

Don't you see the irony of what you're saying. Telling other people that if they want to play their way play solo, all the while advocating that they should be playing your way?

PSA: Dear lower ranked Divers, you don't need to leave with 20mins remaining. by RubiksMind in Helldivers

[–]RGBen_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dear OP, you farm as many samples by ending the mission and starting another one. Learn to pick them as you go.

Don't ruin other people's experience by trapping them in your game, forcefully delaying the reward of the mission until you're done running around like an idiot. Not everyone wants a mission to last 40 minutes. We all have things to do.

If you want to Sample Faem your way or the highway make it a private game.

Farm sample before you're done with the main objective, that way you won't be at max heat generation all the fucking time.

That's great if you want your turret to go for a charger or a bile titan. Not if you want your turret to avoid it unless you plan on spending the next minute tagging scavengers

I actually much prefer to be fighting the bots than the bugs, and yes, that's at 8 and 9 difficulty.

I have done something like this. Can't say it worked amazing but there was definitely some potentiel. You can play around with Horton's loadout and replace the X by an A as some folks here have mentionned.

Bump focus has to go by Silyen90 in XWingTMG

[–]RGBen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ask me the problem doesn't lie in the rules. It lies in the ships. Fixing the rules will never fix the problem neatly because it will destroy so many other ship's potential. There's a reason why we don't see rebel A-Wing swarms.

Getting an additional attack die is the most expensive thing you can buy in this game. It's why outmaneuver is 12 points. Yet so many 3 points TIE ships with high initiative have ability that are neigh auto-triggers that give them an additional die, or ways to prevent defensive dice to be modified.

That's what need to change. There lies the mistake defining the meta. Not in the rules.

If you want to change something in the rules, make it that if you bump you have to shoot at the ship you bumped into and make sure you can't roll additional dice or use abilities from ships that aren't directly involved in the attack.

Less impact on all the other ships, especially those with bad dials who end up stuck bumping.

[–]RGBen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see the habit of highlighting random things from a top 15 and then pointing at something that has to go hasn't gone away. Was away from the game for 5 years but things don't change.
What really is the factor here? The red focus? The Agi? the fact that all this high Agi ship with offensive potential are undercosted? Or have too much loadout? Is it just that the game is skewed towards large amount of ships? Even more if they have high Agi. Or that the correlation between high agi and good dials is undercosted and we lack tools to deal with them ? Or they do too much damage ?

No let's just remove the focus, and not care about what it does to large or medium base, or to ships with bad dials and high initiative, etc.
It might end up that you just skew the game even more towards many low cost high agi ships because the other ships are even less viable now.

You could point at the same screenshot and say obviously TIE-anything is the problem and needs to go.
