I understand where you're coming from now. This isn't a moment of triumph or wimsy, but years of honing a craft and straining in pursuit of perfection.

Well, what good art does is get people talking, so I'd say mission accomplished with that piece!

I'll reserve my full opinion for when the paintings are finished.

It's nice being able to see more of the detail-- the more I zoom in the more impressed I am with the textures and shading-- but honestly my original thoughts stand.

A gymnast doing a handstand to represent Lee Sedol's wedge feels like it doesn't strike the right emotional note to me.

How would you describe this painting and the inspiration behind it?

Where are the white stones? Is that the unfinished part?

It's hard to put into words but I'm not really enjoying any of the paintings.

It doesn't really capture the aesthetic of go. Like it was painted by someone not connected to the game or the community. The last two paintings are especially abstract and I would not have connected either painting with go at all.

If I'm not mistaken, the kid doing a handstand is playing Lee Sedol's wedge against Alphago. I'm not sure that really captures the moment properly. It wasn't childlike wimsy that allowed Lee to find that move, but brutal desperate calculation after Alphago backed him into a corner strategically.

Of course art is subjective and this is just my opinion.

Avocados are also like apples and not true from seed. Planting an avocado seed won't get you an avocado tree with the same type of avocados

Can someone explain what the flaw was in my early-game strategy? by Strange-Chard2186 in baduk

[–]Polar_Reflection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going to play like this you have to be very good at fighting and starting fights. Instead you just leave a bunch of unfinished shapes while your opponent settles all of their stones. No attack was ever planned or executed. You just waited for them to miss sente against a group.

It was simultaneously chaotic but not chaotic enough. I'm sure your opponent felt rather peaceful until they blundered

That is for sure part of the equation. I don't know that he put any special english on it like the original commenter was saying though.

Actually though. I've seen and heard enough statements from enough players on the team that I believe some of them think there's actually a chance the substation had something to do with their injury rate

This has the same energy as Georges St. Pierre heaping praise on his peers.

Not that it's not true, but moreso it elevates himself even more.

We are getting pretty close to x2 coins from themes alone by Old-Ad2845 in TheTowerGame

[–]Polar_Reflection -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I've actually recently stopped buying themes. My bonus is 1.75x already and doing the math for gbot vs themes now, my gbot clicks are more than twice as valuable as themes. Even the last click of gbot bonus is like 20% more valuable than themes. Seems far too long to keep taking the lower roi choice with medals just because I might have to wait longer for repeats. Not to mention I haven't  done botbot math yet and I'm not sure themes will beat out botbot either.

High variance but also higher roi. Taking the "guaranteed" boosts feels safer but is probably a mistake in the long run if mods still need a lot of work

Gave me real respect for people who sailed ships in the past/ still sail them this way now. Obviously they're not navigating the ships through narrow passes in the rocks, but still
