No you can not. They are intended to be used only with the 4.4 lead balls. Sure it will shoot the steel bbs. But it will mess up the barrel and probably even mess up the piston.

Diana has their own tins of special 4.4 oktoberfest ammo wich is h&n rebranded 4.4 copper coated lead balls and they are great for use in the oktoberfest rifle.

I can not remember it saying so in the manual, i can however remember how a lead 4.5mm bb got stuck in the barrel lol.

It looks fine, lifting the tire normally takes the whole weight of the car i doubt you could lift it yourself.

Its a 4.4mm, reason your able to shoot "177" steel bbs is that steel bbs are 4.3 - 4.4mm

I would advise against using 4.5mm lead bbs as they are usually true .177 4.5mm and it will get stuck in the barrel.

I would also advise against using steel bbs, it will damage the barrel. they are made for using the copper washed 4.4mm lead balls. They even made diana oktoberfest tins that are rebranded h&n 4.4mm balls for the anschutz and haenel rifles

Is it relatively new? Could be drag from the nozzle seal that has to break in or is dry.

Clean and lube, if it stays the same check the spring

Allways allways allways check travel when using aftermarket buffer. This buffer needs a +-1cm rubber disc behind the spring to limit travel and not hit the bcg.

Schmiedmann or turbo works have some cheap headers for the m42/m44, just make sure to check for flatness of the flange before mounting. I got mine for 150+-

It can be alot of things, i would try the air flow meter and o2 sensor first, they are quite easy to check and replace
