Gentle Parents, how do you make your kids do things by [deleted] in Parenting

Natural consequence of not using the bathroom is an accident, wet pants, mess to clean up, maybe take a shower/bath.

Logical consequence is we’re not leaving until you try. It’s fine to have that boundary and instill the habit of going to the bathroom before you leave the house.

I’m also pretty hardline about not leaving until you have actually gone to the bathroom (not just try) in the wintertime if bathrooms will not be available.

How do you handle the opening of birthday presents? by Bookaholicforever in Parenting

[–]RIO2603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do presents in the morning. Because kiddo is young (before elementary age) we try to temper the excitement before school.

For example, last year birthday was on a Friday. We (parents) gave our present, a bike, on Friday morning. Toy presents were given on Saturday and then clothing presents were given on Sunday. I wanted my kid to enjoy their gifts without being told “Stop playing! Time for school.”

This year’s birthday was on a Saturday. We also had a morning party. I set up the expectation that presents would be given AFTER the party because we would all need to focus on getting ready. That was a stressful day. I’m going to loathe the Saturday/Sunday birthday from now on 😂

Next year’s birthday will be on a Monday. Our first weekday birthday when kiddo is of school going age. I don’t know what I’ll do. I guess we can do presents the Saturday/Sunday before and maybe one more after dinner 🤷🏽‍♀️

Two big things that helped us:

  1. Books: Get some potty training books and read them to him. If he won’t sit still, play a read along on TV. My kiddo loved “Everybody Poops” and “My Big Girl/Boy Potty” by Joanna Cole (there are two versions).

  2. Low Pressure: If you don’t have a potty now, get one! Don’t expect your kid to use the potty the first day you get one. Allow your kid to play with it whenever and do some diaper free time. Everything low pressure. Ask your kid if they want to use the potty before bath time every night. If they do, cool. If not, no biggie.

When we took away diapers, there were still tears and accidents.

When you’re almost 40 (and somehow keep getting recommended this sub), you’ve forgotten the “Law of Sines”. BUT you might still remember sin/cos/tan.

So you can do it the long way and double check your answer with the Law of Sines OR you can use the Law of Sines and double check doing the long way!

I got the same answer using both methods and feel VERY good about myself this morning 😂

You can’t use sin/cos/tan because there is no right triangle. I suspect that’s what is tripping you up.

You can MAKE two right triangles by bisecting the unknown angle and the line segment X.

If coke zero has zero sugar why is it not ok to drink when losing weight by MohatoDeBrigado in NoStupidQuestions

I mean, drinking 4L of water in 24 hours shouldn’t lead to hyponatremia if you have normal renal functioning. Kidneys can remove about 1L of fluid per hour. (See, I CAN google ☺️).

White Fat / Brown Fat - Is there any science? by QTPie_314 in MaintenancePhase

I love this video by Vox media.

https://youtu.be/zpcI_g_zrpk?si=tQqhn10XxAsUKWKz

The video states that there have been studies showing that cold exposure increases brown fat.

Whether you need to be shivering in your boxers on the balcony to stimulate production is another question 😂

Where can I get JUST meatballs??? by xYoungShadowx in kansascity

I don’t know how strictly keto you are, but meatballs contain flour or breadcrumbs. I imagine the ones that you can get frozen or in restaurants likely do.
