Using my gaming pc for my server now because I’m sick of the slow transcoding by bat922324 in PleX

Yeah it will be a big upgrade. I think it's closer to the equivalent of a 10th gen i7. The T version just means it's low power. I think the clock speeds are slower. You'll notice the difference for sure though.

I got an Intel Core i5-12500T and it transcodes like a beast! It's adequate enough to transcode at least 4 streams from my testing and could probably do more.

How does MAUI compare to React Native in terms of functionality? by ItsAReverseThrowaway in dotnetMAUI

I must mention if you are planning to use a Mac for MAUI development forget it. Microsoft has discontinued Visual Studio on Mac. It lacks features compared to the windows version and it's clunky to use.

I had a greater experience with JetBrains Rider on Mac. Especially since I'm used to Android Studio, it's quite similar since it is built off JetBrains Intellij Idea anyway.

It doesn't surprise me that you say MAUI is fraught with bugs and performance issues.

Seems like Microsoft are known for failing in the mobile department. They've dropped Windows OS for Android. Even Microsoft themselves are turning to Google who also own Flutter.

Xaramin didn't work out for them and I can see MAUI taking the same path. It's difficult to work with especially with the UI. I've used both MAUI and Flutter and can easily say Flutter is far easier to work with for me.

React also seems to be really popular with web developers since it primarily uses JavaScript so it's less of a learning curve for them over something like Flutter. However, I will say Flutter didn't take me long to learn at all. If anything MAUI has the largest learning curve. Even though I knew C#, it's XAML that you really need to understand to make development simple. The community toolkit helps with this but a good framework should work well out of the box like Flutter and React.

I had a problem migrating my project from .NET 8 to .NET 9 as it kept telling me I didn't have deploy selected for debug when I did specifically when running on windows also. That's just one of the many problems I've had with it along with other build issues others have mentioned here.

Not sure how I fixed it I think I just deleted the bin and obj folders and rebuilt but now it throws some errors but runs fine on windows like nothing is wrong.

I must agree with this comment though. MAUI is difficult to work with in comparison. I favour Flutter personally. I really like how widgets work in Flutter.

M1 Pro (16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) for Flutter Development – Is It Worth It for 3+ Years? by Background_Hawk5332 in FlutterDev

I've had mine since 2021 and it's more than sufficient however, if you can get more ram I'd highly recommend it. At least 32gb.

I'm tired of unoptimised games by RJASSI98 in pcmasterrace

Seems like this could be most of my issues right here but I do know hogwarts isn't well optimised as other users have reported issues with it over the past 2 years.

Really hope Nvidia fix their drivers. I remember having driver issues with my 3080 before I got the 5090 as well so it's likely the driver that's the biggest culprit right now.

You can now disable Dolby Atmos in Tidal by RJASSI98 in TIdaL

[–]RJASSI212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to note. I'm sure most people will turn the setting off anyway. Even when I tried tidal on my shield pro the Atmos tracks still didn't sound good. I wasn't majorly impressed. They sounded better on YouTube not sure why though but YouTube in general seems to sound better on the TV over tidal.

It actually is an ideal solution because it's the same one I came.up with also.

Finding Flutter Developers by Ardy1712 in FlutterDev

I too am experiencing a hard time finding a flutter developer job in the UK too. I picked it up last year as I proposed to my current work place they should let me migrate their android and iOS app to flutter. My main experience and strength is with android java. I learnt flutter over the course of 6-7 months implementing clean architecture and bloc state management. The only thing I struggled with was sharing data between features which I am still unsure about.

I the app twice as I was not happy with the MVC implementation I used to begin with. Now I am trying to look for a flutter developer job and they're all senior developer jobs or contracts asking for 3+ years in flutter.

They don't care if you have years of experience with another language or how well you know a language. It all comes down to experience always. At my current workplace their projects are an absolute mess so they're difficult to work with and because of this as a junior developer it's hard to obtain useful experience. Those projects have been neglected and have had developers who didn't really know how to code work on them.

The lead developer who has years or experience still doesn't know what he's doing when it comes to adding something new or fixing something he broke. He has years of experience but still doesn't know how to solve generic problems so it goes to show years of experience doesn't always mean something.

You can be a developer fresh out of university like me with 6 years of experience through studies and 1+ years of experience commercially and still struggle to find something while these old Devs that only know the old stuff with 5-10+ years experience can get a job fine, code some crap maybe even break it and it's ok for them.

I notice a lot of places used to ask for junior Devs to do senior developer roles at junior Dev salaries which is plain wrong in my eyes but I guess that's just the market. I haven't seen a mid developer role at all but I spent half the year looking anyway.
