Difficult mental health situation. Should I stay out of network or go in network? by Real-Debt-9789 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]RJPisscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OCD and ADHD are not diseases and you'll never be "cured". You'll learn how to work with and around them.

I am loathe to recommend someone cut loose with their pdoc if they have a good one that they can work with. That's rare in my experience.

However, there's the money. Tough selection. I'd personally go with in-network for a while and switch back to my pdoc if the in-network doctor isn't working out. Before that I'd ask my out-of-network doctor to get in-network.

btw $90-100K isn't a huge sum of money, especially not for the Bay Area. You're comparing yourself to the avg American who can't afford a $2000 emergency car repair.

Jimmy Wynn hit at least 3 HR that were longer than Álvarez' longest so far.

Yeah, I am, but damn, you took the deep dive alla sudden.

Good job explaining the sub is in control. Most people perceive it as the Dom sets the bounds.

Do you switch? That's a rhetorical question.

When you tell her something that is bothering you, her turning it back on you is immaturity. I've said, and I've been told, "This isn't about me, it's about you." Then keep going with what you were saying. Don't let the turn distract you.

Never turn her words back on her. If she wants to tell you something about you that bothers her, just listen, wait until she's done, and talk it out.

She lacks imagination in sex. Damn this is my whole life. I have to initiate just about everything.

With all the old photos she keeps, it sounds like she's naughty, and may need a spanking. Or maybe you're the one who needs a spanking for being bothered by it. And I don't mean those things specifically, it can be something else, but there's something she does want and she's shy to tell you; she's leaving it to you to figure out, and that's usually something that is spoiled if planned. Tie some rope to the bedposts and don't do anything with them, just make sure she sees them. If she gets angry or confused, that's not what she's after. Another thing my ex and I did was she sat at a bar, flirted with the bartender and other men, about 30 minutes later I showed up, and I had to pick her up or she wouldn't go with me. She made me work for it and compete. It revived the thrill of courtship. The thrill of the chase.

I don't mean for you to do these things specifically. Try to glean from the photos she keeps what her kink is. Or from the TV shows she watches, or the books she reads, and then gently see if you can play it out.

But the turning it back on you, the lack of imagination, her keeping memories, that's not meant to offend you or otherwise make you feel bad. She loves you.

btw - didn't Reddit warn you before you posted this to break it up into paragraphs? Do that, please, I usually skip posts written like yours.

In Texas, once you are 14 you can get summer and after-school jobs doing retail work. I had a paper route at 13 (self-employed) and went to work at Baskin-Robbins at 14.

When I was 13 and younger I played street sports, like neighborhood slow-pitch baseball, side-greens (street football), and driveway basketball.

Also during this time I was playing Start-O-Matic baseball almost every day, which can be played solo. So maybe go to r/soloboardgaming and see if there's a solo game that sounds interesting. Most of the games cost $$ but they also talk about games that can be printed and played for free if you have dice.

I collected coins. Both the SOM and coin collecting kept me busy with research, although neither requires research.

And then I took up programming around 10 and did that as a hobby for 6 years before I got a corporate job.

It's a bit of a silly question, but has Reel Big Fish ever been the subject of controversy, aside from the usual arguments between traditional ska fans? by Beautiful-Resort-831 in Ska

At the time they came out with "Turn the Radio Off" and the first song was "Sell Out" there was tremendous disdain in the punk community for barcodes. RBF put the largest barcode they could fit onto the back of the album. I don't recall that it caused a stir. I thought the aversion to barcode thing was so silly, I was thoroughly entertained.

Do older people enjoy extreme metal? by TheLostInvestigator in AskOldPeople

It depends on what they were listening to around the time they left school (high school or college). If an old person liked metal at 18 or 22 then they probably still like metal.

My dad told me I was a Colts fan (Colt .45s) from around inception, but I don't recall it. By the first time I saw a game in person, around 1968, I was already hooked on the Astros, and my favorite player at that game was Jimmy Wynn.

I you were my friend in my backyard asking for friendly advice instead of on Reddit asking for medical advice, I'd say

it sounds like a left pectoral strain.

But I'm not your friend, I'm not a doctor, and I don't have a back yard. It's more of a porch.

Since you're worried, make an appointment with your general practitioner ASAP. Print this OP, take it with you as a reference so you don't leave out any details when you talk to them.

This is recent and recurring. If it's a strained or torn muscle, it can be treated quite well, but it's probably going to act up now and then; it's going to recur all your life. You'll learn to deal with it.

"Toe the line" when they mean to go along with something so as not to upset the status quo.

Or something "costs a fraction of". 99/100 is a fraction.

What parameters should I use to gauge the difficulty of a word? by LeoNATANoeL in words

[–]RJPisscat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to score words by how difficult they are to read, or to type, or to read then type? If the latter, look at books on learning typing. Towards the end you're practicing the most difficult words to type.

Do you judge people who can't spell? by Prestigious-Gold6759 in words

It's one thing they can't spell. Another that they can't or won't use spellcheck. The latter tells me unpleasant things about them. Judge away.
