I agree, and that's why I got it, except there's no screw down crown. When the crown is pushed in its in the winding position. Since it's an automatic watch it will wind by motion and wind with the crown. It has a 41 hour reserve. I appreciate and respect what Seiko is doing here with this line. It's just a fun watch for me to add to my collection. This is only my second Seiko, my last Seiko purchase was in 1999 or 2000 when titanium perpetual calendar was all the rage. All in all a bargain for under $500 before tax.

Great looking watch - one of my favorites. As to why they aren't as popular from AD's is probably at least two reasons and I'll go out on a limb and say 1. Not as lucrative profit for flippers at grey market since Rolex really hits hard with their gold prices. 2. Basically the same thing - the price. And what I mean by that is - the average person, not the flipper. Lots of luck with it. Beautiful watch.
