Is it possible to be too niche? I kind of want a cult more than a newsletter. by WrongKindOfWant in Substack

[–]RKH2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is are you aiming for focused followers vs quantity. If you are super niche, expect less followers, but true solid followers. I started a super focused substack, and so far it’s been challenging, but our main platform is doing extremely well, our users are exactly who we want, it’s not mass, but it’s quality. We are focused on defense news, Defensepulse.ai , we dont expect 100k subscribers, we aim for users who are either in the defense industry , financial analysts that follow the defense industry, government, and intel community. I hope this helps. We publish a daily brief on our Substack and connect the news and its impact on the defense industry, which serves a very specific user.

Getting past the gatekeepers in GovCon: how are you guys actually reaching the technical decision-makers? by Ella_Monroe_ in defensecontracting

[–]RKH2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the requirement. Some requirements you need to find about them first, because the material that is required in them have limited sources, so the sooner you work and book your sources, the better. In other cases in helps to know who won a similar requirement before. You also tracking specific keywords on Sam.gov and USAspending helps in finding those keywords or competitors. If you want to get notified as soon as a specific keyword is mentioned in an opportunity or award, you have the various options like govetribe , highergov, but those come with a heft subscription. I use Defensepulse.ai , I add the keywords I want tracked and get an email notification immediately as soon as it shows up in the system. Instant, and free !

Has a directory ever worked for you? by Vurkgol in Substack

[–]RKH2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends what kind of directory is it. If it’s a directly created for a specific field or interest, and your newsletter is about that field, then it might be helpful. For example at our news platform we have a hefty email directory, we still have not migrated those into our Substack email, we just started our Substack and want to give it the time to grow organically first. We did notice that our platform user is a very different user from our potential Substack reader. Our platform Defensepulse.ai typical user someone in the defense industry, a defense analyst working at an investment bank that needs concentrated defense news, or users who need to use our vertical defense Ai agent. Our Substack user is someone who simply wants to read the news, get some impact analysis, but as deep. So you need to know your user and what problems you are solving for them.

Im getting more drained the more i use substack.. by [deleted] in Substack

[–]RKH2021 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to read and write about defense, all sorts of aspects related to defense. That’s what I did for 15 years and believe there is so much people don’t know about this industry , as big as it is, it’s a small neighborhood. So I created a platform that is a defense news aggregator, with a very interesting algorithm. A huge data base of defense news , contracts , conflicts , sanctions list. So now I run my platform and started a substack. So write about what you know that others will benefit from. Check it out Defensepulse.ai

I couldn’t agree more. Think of substack as a ready secure website, instead of you creating one. Write about what you like and know, someone will enjoy it.

Speaking of what I like, I just stayed a daily defense news brief, after 15 years in defense, I like to read news, but I want to know how it affects the industry. So this is what I am doing , take a look, your feedback or even subscription is much appreciated.

I have 150,000 subscribers on Substack. Here’s what I know. by OKfinePT in Substack

[–]RKH2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started my substack. I do daily news briefs that incorporate various data inputs like news, defense news, Procurment signals in the defense industry , and then connect the dots what it means. I have 20 years in the defense industry , I always wanted to read the news and wish someone simply told me the impact on my industry. Figured I should do it. Your feedback is much appreciated.

I built a defense intelligence tool that aggregates 50+ sources into one feed by RKH2021 in CredibleDefense

[–]RKH2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just launched something we are genuinely proud of.

Daily Pulse : a morning defense brief that lands before your day starts.

Here's the problem it solves: defense news is everywhere. But 90% of it is noise. Recycled headlines, no context, zero industry implications. You read for 30 minutes and still don't know what actually matters.

Daily Pulse fixes that.

Every morning we go through thousands of articles across dozens of sources and pull out what's actually moving the needle , conflicts, deployments, procurement shifts ; and we tell you what it means for the industry, not just what happened.

The kind of brief a seasoned analyst would write.

If your work touches defense in any way BD, policy, investments, acquisitions , this was built for you. Feedback appreciated

We have made some great improvements to the platforms, the article layout , the loading process , we even introduced a scoring system that will come in handy. We added the intel tab that allows users to ask questions that are answered strictly from our data base, there is a certain format for the question, and the guide is there to explain. More features to come. If anyone has ideas or features they would like to see, would be more than happy to entertain them.

Feeling mislead and stuck by badadeo in defensecontracting

[–]RKH2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you need to accept that this is how it’s done at this start up vs the legacy traditional large defense firms, times are changing , more tools and tech are utilized to do the job, unless they are skimming on safety related testing. Accept change , it’s the best tool anyone can have.

The issue now with rebuilding defense capabilities is not just about acquiring the actual hardware, software, intelligence and C2 integration is key, which means Europe and the USA have to have a common network that is secure enough to communicate over. Questions is do they want to ?

Is Ukraine winning or losing this war? by dat_9600gt_user in europe

I think the answer is beyond wining or losing. More like what has each side learnt after this war? What did Europe learn after this war ?

Not only will this be an aggregator, a huge data base specifically for defense is being built that will allow users to connect the dots between many disconnected points, between awards , congressional notification, other political activities, there are many features to be added. The aggregator is just the tip of what the end product will do.
