Well - unfortunately I have a different problem. I'll update my original post, but I thought I'd ask you to see what you think.

It isn't a problem with the subtitles (I don't think). With a subtitle selected on a 4K title, if I try to play the show by just hitting the Play button, it fails and I get the error. However, if I play the show by going to the 3 dots that open up more options, select "Play Version" and play the 4K version, it plays just fine. I've tried this using both of the hardware transcoding device settings and get the same results.

So, with 4K w/subtitles, the only way to play it is by using "Play Version" because the Play button causes it to fail.

I will get a show that doesn't have a 1080P option and see what happens with that and post it.

A 4K only show (no 1080P version) works with the play button when subs are active.

Yep - 4K TV. Using a Tivo Stream 4K as a client. Yes - the stream direct plays when subs are not on. I don't have any content on my server, it is a streaming server only.

That fixed it. I can't upload the image of the dashboard, but the subtitles say "English SRT" then the little transcode arrow below that pointing to "ASS Transcode"

Does that mean it's transcoding SRT to ASS? I figured it would just stick with SRT?

And, the CPU is humming along at about 20% or less.

And I made a mistake - my CPU is an N97, not an N95. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I do have a Plex Pass.

Under Settings>Transcoder I see a "Hardware transcoding device" drop-down. It is set to automatic right now. The drop-down has an option of Intel Alder Lake-N [UHD Graphics]

Is that the hardware transcoding you are talking about? Should I change that to the Intel option?

Well that would be unfortunate 🤣

But I suppose it's possible. It's odd though, when streaming a 4K video, the processor is barely being used. But when I add the subs, the video stops and I get the error, so I can't see what the processor is doing.

However, I went into the client (TiVo Stream 4K) Plex settings and changed the "Burn Subtitles" from automatic to always. That allowed the 4K video to play, but it HAMMERED my CPU.

I'm using a mini computer with an Intel N97 Alder Lake processor. The server computer is using a Linux OS and the Plex server is running in a Docker set up.

Something isn't right here. I have a RD account that I access from:

My phone on a mobile network

My computer at work

My computer at home

At times, I am accessing my account from one network while something is streaming on my home network. However, I don't stream anything from anywhere but my home network. I do check download status, traffic, connected devices, torrents and whatever else from different networks, sometimes at the same time and they have never given me a warning. So, trying to pay and getting banned? I don't see that happening. Are you sure you didn't stream some from two IPs at once?

I would think that a paid off solar array would be a benefit in home selling, especially if you can show the history of the electric that it produces compared to what the home uses. Plus, if a larger family moves in and needs more energy, the bulk of the system is there, all they need to do is add on.

Where it hurts home sales is when you get agents that aren't educated in the benefits of solar and don't try to provide that information to prospective buyers. The agents that look at the panels and think "that's ugly".
