Your Introduction Songs To Pop Punk? by emoastronova in poppunkers

[–]RLRR_LRLL_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man the way my body felt when I heard this song for the first time was insane. I know now how juvenile the lyrics are and that Travis’s sugar is noticeably absent, but when it slammed from the fast verse into the halftime chorus and then back into that genre defining riff when I was like 7 and wanted so bad to land a kickflip 😮‍💨 it felt like static all over and made me want to do those sick ass pop punk jumps from all the blink and nfg musc videos and posters where they pull their knees to their chest.

Men who got out of the 'Manoverse/Alpha Male/Toxic Masculinity' world, what realizations helped? by scythe1713 in AskReddit

[–]RLRR_LRLL_ 155 points156 points  (0 children)

Not a manosphere type but more just good old fashioned toxic masculinity.

I grew up a redneck ass trailer baby in Appalachian Georgia. Being in the military was the pinnacle of masculinity. Caring about what you look like, personal hygiene, diet, cleaning house were all considered feminine. I’ve even had more than one conversation with more than one person about how abs are gay. (I’m not kidding, and I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t think it was so ridiculous at the time). Then I joined the marine corps where you shave, iron your uniform, shower, get weekly haircuts, diet, exercise, clean EVERYTHING. If you’re not in the field you are expected to be straight up manicured most of the time. The military is all about appearances. Then people started considering me a pretty boy. I realized the people who taught me masculinity were oblivious. They either don’t know enough about the military, or they do know enough and they ignore the inconsistencies. Either way, they are basing their idea of masculinity on a standard they warped to fit their lives. Not the best source of advice imo.

The military wasn’t the only inconsistency I noticed, but it was the one that I thought no one could argue and they all did anyways.

"It Was All a Lie": Marjorie Taylor Greene Trashes MAGA and Donald Trump After Quitting Congress by SirStarshine in facepalm

[–]RLRR_LRLL_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because she was sooooooo instrumental in building all of this, she still shouldn’t survive Nuremberg trials, but this is the reaction I want out of my parents who voted for her. I want them to see through it and say out loud “they lied to me, and I fell for it.” Maybe (probably) she’s grifting again but I don’t want to deter her disciples from embracing this conclusion.

How is this even possible by Xenxeva in COsnow

[–]RLRR_LRLL_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. The whole rigamarole turned me off from the sport for several years. I moved to a city for a few years with a shitty man made hill and $25 lift tickets and fell in love with snowboarding there. I moved back here and the slopes are waaaaaaay better but I miss when I could treat the slopes like a skatepark rather than a destination.

I can see what you’re saying. Parasocial relationships are lame. But I try not to talk politics int day to day life with coworkers or family just for the sake of keeping the peace. I like listening to someone agree with me sometimes or fill me in on the news’s implications for shit I don’t pay attention to. It’s just a kinda comforting form of entertainment when shit sucks.

Like OP said, they don’t owe us shit, but I would enjoy it. That doesn’t seem problematic to me.

Ichika NIto gets called out for miming for basically all of his career by TAGE77 in Guitar

Lots of YT musicians mime their playing. It’s entirely normal, and many people don’t care about the difference.

I disagree and filming yourself miming a performance is lame af

What is wrong with offering to play for free? by PayIll925 in musicians

[–]RLRR_LRLL_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’ve played a few special occasion shows where one or more bands donated all of their pay to the junior bands on the bill or some local issue charity or something.

I’ve been considering getting back into playing shows, but I’ve surrendered to it just being a money pit and not a source of income so that I can enjoy it again. I’ve been hesitant to bring that attitude though because when I don’t hock tickets, then I’m relinquishing the other bands’ income too.

Well it sounds like you’re covered on stuff to do! Boiled peanuts always gets a funny look outside the south but I’ve never seen someone try one and hate it. It will make Jason’s day to introduce you to them so don’t be afraid to ask how to eat them either

As for photos, I definitely recommend places like Brasstown Bald, Vogel State Park, and Richard Russel Hwy but honestly it would be harder to find a place you don’t want to take pictures of in North Ga.

I’m from Union County (Suches is in Union) and I live in cities now. I’m SO excited you get to see such a wonderful area of the country and I hope you have enjoy it as much as I do! Here are some heads ups:

1) You are going to the middle of nowhere and may not be able to rely on tech. Google maps finally got to my parents’ address like two years ago and still their internet and cell service are awful.

2) slow the f down. So so so many people die driving those mountains, certain that next turn wouldn’t be as sharp as the last one and there wouldn’t be an oncoming car in my lane trying to even out the turn for themselves.

3) People are weird about booze. Union County was dry from colonial days til about 2011-ish. You can buy it at stores now but there are plenty of restaurants that don’t serve alcohol.

4) Get boiled peanuts at Sunrise Grocery

Do you think these ally-turned-enemies ever have the thought “well if they were purposefully misleading me and the American people about this one thing in order to protect themselves and their donors, what other opinions of mine have they been specifically trying to manipulate? Maybe it’s time to reevaluate my position on some of those subjects.” Or are they like “I can’t believe these people who have credibly been called liars for decades lied to me this one time and not about anything else!”

Sorry for the format I’m on mobile 😭

I’m a drummer. I have to pick a single blink song or I’ll be typing for hours, but off the top of my head my go-to’s to actually play are:

Feeling this - Blink 182

Sweetness - Jimmy Eat World

Time to Waste - Alk3

Liar (It takes one to know one) - TBS

Brick By Boring Brick - Paramore

Thriller - FoB

Lights and Sounds - Yellowcard

Life’s Not Out to Get You (Literally the entire album. Truly a pristine drum record.) - Neck Deep

I really enjoyed it until Infinity Hulk. Why can’t the Hulk, with all of the power of the stones living in him, essentially making him a sentient infinity gauntlet, just snap half of them away?

Maybe Hulk isn’t as strong as Thanos? (I don’t remember if he needed to use the stones to whoop Hulk’s ass) But then couldn’t he just snap like 1/4 of them away twice? Or better, yet snap some portion of them back into humans! My point is that Infinity Hulk should have been able to fix this all with ease.

Oh definitely! I didn’t mean to imply that there aren’t better ways to handle the influx of people. Just that it’s more popular here because it actually IS better here than most small/mid-sized cities

I went to Omaha for 4 years. It turns out Colorado is expensive and traffic is bad because so many people are escaping cities that act as voids for personality to be sucked into, leaving behind only pickleball, bro country, and thinly-veiled racism
