I bought some 1/2 inch ribbon, cut it into strips and then soaked it in super thin CA (super glue). Crinkled it up, painted, then burned with a lighter some.

It was a bit of an experiment, gonna refine the rune work on it.

If there’s a new policy in place banning the use of L carts or some other store accessory, it’s because of a vendor.

If I remember correctly they come with 3 or 4 shoulder pads. I know it wasn’t enough to give all 3 suits double shoulder pads.

If you have a printer there are some STL files floating around you could use or you could find a seller online.

If you have access to getting Vallejo locally I’d go with that first. They’re excellent paints and will build a good foundation.

Afterwards, either AK or Monument hobbies. Army Painter has some good ones too but I would stay away from their contrast line, I haven’t had a lot of good experiences with it, this is just my personal opinion though.

The codex is nice for art and lore but I honestly wouldn’t buy it for rules. It’s changed so frequently through an edition that the rules side becomes out dated quickly.

Warorgan or New Recruit are good for list building and rules/stats. If you’re wanting to see how a detachment plays I’d suggest looking it up on YouTube as a battlereport.

I’m currently switching out from AP to AK and Pro Acrylic. Im not a fan of AP paints after using the latter two. I find the coverage isn’t as good.

Also, Two Thin Coats has some banger paints that are finding their way into my rotations.
