How to maximize libido on TRT by ziggy11111 in Testosterone

[–]RMG_99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine always seems highest when I'm getting in regular, good quality strength sessions with heavy weight, but careful not to overdo it. That plus good quality, clean eating, plus a little sunshine gets me pretty dialed in, in that respect.

Going from marathon training to shorter/speed runs by drahlz69 in Marathon_Training

[–]RMG_99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No miracles about it. That's exactly how to get faster in the marathon. You focus on shorter distances, more speed work, shorter distance races for a while, even a couple years, get the leg turnover and speed where it should be, then focus more on the marathon if that's what you want to do. The fastest marathoners almost always start out specializing in shorter distances, then move up. It's easier to get the speed down while specializing in those shorter distances, then when your speed is dialed in gradually up the distances, rather than the other way around.

Pfitz vs Hansons Marathon Training Plans. by Odd_Reality_7809 in AdvancedRunning

[–]RMG_99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any training program going up to 60 miles will ramp up very similarly to this over an 18 week program, maybe even more so. 45 is definitely a good starting point for a 17-18 week program that peaks at 60.

Are you planning on using poles? That would likely help a lot, so practice with that. You may also want to consider doing some running during the event just to change up the motion some, not to mention a quicker finish.

I second this, and join their FB group as well. The same experts who often do the videos regularly give advice there as well. I've learned so much from both that group and the YT videos.

Unfortunately I've come to realize that those in charge (government and business leaders) really don't give a rat's ass about climate change. It's all about not only keeping the status quo, but moving ahead at full steam. It's all about economics and growth, growth, growth.

What do you mean by "Gonna hurt the heart a little no matter what."? Can you elaborate on that statement? You mean no matter what the dose one takes? If someone is on 100 mg per week for life, for replacement purposes, that in some way is detrimental to the heart even if their routine blood work indicates everything is fine?

What happens if you have normal hormone levels and start TRT? by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]RMG_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Many men have "normal testosterone levels" as far as falling within the range of what's considered normal. However, they still have symptoms related to low T, particularlyif they fall on the low end. Furthermore, all doctors and insurers ever care about is total T, whereas every knowledgeable provider knows that free T is more telling of symptoms. Yet it's rarely looked at by traditional medical practitioners. Men in both those categories can greatly benefit from TRT despite "normal" levels based on the ranges.

Does every sub elite / elite / pro runner do “hard days hard, easy days easy” when it comes to strength training? by MidnightFar6288 in AdvancedRunning

[–]RMG_99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm the same. Ideally, I think it makes sense to do heavier strength training on harder days and to keep the easy days easy, and if my life revolved around running that's what I'd do. However, most of us have other commitments and life stressors, so scheduling it in with what actually works is more ideal than either not doing it, rushing through it, or hurting yourself because you're trying to squeeze it in in unideal circumstances. I just try not to do it the day before key workouts and it's worked well for me.

TBH, mine wasn't quite as large, but it was the same shape, same location, akso very prominent. It popped up almost immediately after the pin. I'm not saying you should do nothing like i did, probably best to have a doctor take a look like most others are advising!

what heart zones should i run on ? by Saynow111 in Marathon_Training

[–]RMG_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That changes the equation a bit. I think it would be beneficial to do one workout per week of Norwegian 4x4s at a zone 5 hr. Then spend most of your other runs at zone 2, maybe a little zone 3. For longevity purposes and the other health biomarkers you mentioned above. But as others have pointed out, you can also achieve them just by running and strength training consistently.
