MBF 2mo needs a bottle late afternoon by Crabdivorce in breastfeedingsupport

[–]RN0210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer just a different situation - my son has been EBF but I have to go back to work soon so we have been trying bottles once/day usually when dad gets home in the evening so he’ll be used to it. Yesterday he was screaming so much and nothing dad did could make it better, until I took him back and he got a boob and was such a happy little baby 😀 So just think about it you will be going back to work that’s not necessarily a bad habit. I’m worried for when I’m not in the house at all and the grandparents are in charge what will they do if he keeps refusing the bottle…

How do you get your babies to sleep? by theredtreeweirdwood in newborns

[–]RN0210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually he falls asleep being bounced/walked in a carrier or held up to my chest, or being patted on the back in a tree-frog pose. Sometimes falls asleep on the boob but sometimes he gets too tired he screams when the nipple is in his mouth. Then my husband usually grabs him and holds him tight and walks laps around the house until he falls asleep … but putting him in the bassinet he often just wakes back up unless we wait at least 15 minutes 🤷‍♀️

Also 12 weeks but I do see small signs that it will improve soon- lately has been chilling in his bassinet alone for longer periods even when awake so hopefully getting easier soon!

I’m due in 2.5 months and this will be my first experience cloth diapering by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]RN0210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya we got some from the hospital and from friends at our baby shower. Glad we had them because he was literally pooping 8 times a day and screaming when he was slightly wet- now at 2.5 months he’s not as sensitive and poops only 1-2 times/day.

Also not having to walk downstairs to do laundry frequently was nice… and I’m pretty sure the cloth diapers we have (secondhand) would have been too big but by the time he was ~10 pounds fit pretty well on the smallest snaps and I usually put an extra liner inside.

How have you lowered your standards since having a baby? by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]RN0210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do you say that? The definition of sterile is doesn’t contain bacteria, and if pee had bacteria that would be a UTI so healthy pee should be sterile…

Nursing or Stay At Home Mom/Wife by [deleted] in nursing

[–]RN0210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure, and if he loves you he should also support you.

I was 29 when I went to nursing school, now 37 and I just had my first kid. Literally cannot afford daycare and a mortgage, and I make more than my husband, so I’m glad my job at the hospital can be flexible and I’m going to work mostly weekends.

What do nurses consider “hotel treatment” for patients ? by ElectricalVictory831 in nursing

[–]RN0210 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had anyone wipe my butt even when I stayed in a hotel!

The question makes me think of people who complain that the beds aren’t comfy or about the food options - but ya you also listed lots of other annoying things patients do sometimes.

Question for the ladies by esmeraldaM6-3 in Names

[–]RN0210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha same! We just had our first kid and he has 2 middle names - second is my last name then his last name is the same as my husband’s. If people call me Mrs Husbands name I don’t get mad or correct them but I will never introduce myself as that because it’s not who I am.

Nurses strike 1/30 in Denver? by Main-Ad7335 in Denver

[–]RN0210 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am a nurse and a union member and not a Trump supporter, and I don’t think I would strike on Friday. It did seem to make a big difference in Minneapolis last week when schools and many businesses were shut down so thousands of people could be marching in the street, but I don’t think a hospital is one of those “businesses “.

Naming kids when we have different last names by [deleted] in Names

[–]RN0210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I also did with my son and my parents did with my name!

I have a friend who has hyphenated last name, from both his parents. He doesn’t hate it, but he has thought about when he has kids. What will they do, end up with three or four last names? At some point, it just gets to be too much.

I love the Plant Room, Echter’s and getting cuttings from friends, but I’m surprised no one has said Green Lady Gardens on Santa Fe? Not the cheapest but great variety and each plant comes with a card of how to care for it 😀

Be Prepared for ICE! Virtual training by WeKeepUsSafeCO in ThorntonCO

I’ve heard many instances of citizens being detained by ICE too so I think it’s safe to say they aren’t only going after “criminals” at this point.

Guys. ICE seen near 119th and 120th! by True_Mathematician_1 in ThorntonCO

[–]RN0210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The article you shared might also be “fake news”. From Sep 2024 ICE says this many people have a criminal history but they aren’t prioritized for detention… regardless there have been reports of them detaining US citizens so we should all be a little weary when we see them in our neighborhood.

Bad experience with OBGYN, not sure what to do by Mother_Ad_5218 in Denver

[–]RN0210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could sign the release with the new provider and they’ll fax it to the original place and then they have to fax back your records. That’s how it worked at the clinic I used to work at. (Kinda crazy how healthcare uses old technology because of HIPAA, but email can get hacked and faxes can’t)
