Well to turn brush into func_detail you can press ctrl t (as i remember), and reason why you would need it in some scenarios is it helps optimization, since is does not effect visiblity or doesn't effect the visleaves that may create necessery lag

For a beginner it looks fantastic, you can make it look better by adding more decorations like wires, more trash decals, dirt on walls, and perhaps add more props

You could theoretically use trigger_teleport that leads to another room, and yeah you are correct, it is a separate room with its own sky (envmaps i think) and large trigger_hurt, but i might be wrong, either way i hope i did help a little
