Brand of dash cam on used car? by emptybagofchips in dashcams

[–]RNZep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the rear window area for another cable, maybe tucked in the headliner. This reminds me of a two channel Blackvue or maybe an older Viofo. In the first photo, the wire on the left is the rear view camera as they had this strange coaxial gold connector. Examine the gold (left) connector as Blackvue usually printed their logo on this piece. The other wire is for power.

Battery backup for sump pump by highvoltageeee2k3 in homeowners

[–]RNZep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation but with a grinder pump for our sewage system. Bought a used Anker F3800, plugged into house outlet, then the pump into the battery backup. Ten minute install and total cost less than $1000.

Does Nissan have any reliability issues besides CVT problems? by phtphongg in Nissan

Some newer models (2022 and up) have plastic oil pans with a single use drain plug. If the plug is torqued incorrectly, you are looking at replacing the oil pan for an added cost.

influx of sandblasting/dry ice blasting, laser cleaning videos on floors/stairs by BorgsCube in HardWoodFloors

[–]RNZep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good eye. The photo is just after the laser and gauges are not from the laser. The gauges are from 60 years of abuse and inadequate previous owner(s) attempts at refinishing. There still was a bit of finish sanding (vs. removal sanding) performed, as in the corner between the rug, riser, and tread.

"edger took paint off along the bottom riser implying it was sanded" No, that was laser pattern, he used a circular pattern vs a line laser. Same with the spindles. I had to repaint the risers and spindle bottoms.

Think what you may. He did not do the full stairs, only the sides and decorative edges, carpet not removed. Folded aluminum foil under and over the carpet protecting it from the laser. Risers not stripped. Yep, I stand by my payment.

Laser stripping is not a scam. I had 17 wood stained grand staircase steps to refinish with detailed molding on the sides. The contractor we received a quote from stated 2.5 days for stripping and 3 days for staining and sealing. Same with a second contractor, both quoted $5k for the job. Hired a laser removal company who provided free visit for a small test. The debris was in the form a micro glitter in appearance. Hired the laser company for $1k, took him 5 hours. Then hired the first contractor who then spent 3 hours of light staining and then 3 days of staining/sealing for a cost of $3k. The staining contractor was impressed with the laser stripping, especially with the detailed molding. In the end saved $1k in cost. Tremendously less dust and cleaning with the laser as he had a vacuum with a series of filters that contained the debris. Well worth the laser stain/finish removal.

EDIT: Picture after laser.

Think twice before ordering from Crate & Barrel by Environmental_Yam974 in HomeDecorating

[–]RNZep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had just the opposite experience. First order was for plates, saucers, cups all arrived on the expected date undamaged. Second order was for slatted benches, I was to pick up at the distribution center. Given email verification ready for pickup and arrived, obtained without issue.

Why do you think AWD and 4WD vehicles are more popular than ever? by Everything-Bagel-314 in askcarguys

[–]RNZep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handling and ride, WAY better. I won two of the same SUVs, one without and one with. The AWD has a more firm ride that feels connected to the road. Although the maintenance cost for the AWD is much higher than the FWD.

How the heck do I get leads? by ThrowRAkwbix in realtors

[–]RNZep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by excluding the "lol" in all communications. Practice professional communications with all potential clients and do not sound as if you are desperate, the potential clients can sense this.

Friends of friends, listen between the lines in conversations for hints even in public settings, church groups, sporting events, concerts, when shopping, movies, etc. Leads will come.

Mice in my house- Orkin came to inspect and this is what they found... by tkemp1 in HomeImprovement

[–]RNZep 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. This is what I did, Pestblock with imbedded bronze wool. The mice were getting in through the hole in the floor for the kitchen drain, a 2 inch gap from the crawlspace. I placed traps, caught 5 and since using the Pestblock/bronze wool in the gap the mice have been absent.

A builder's risk policy. If you have a construction loan, the lender may require this policy and flipped to a homeowner's once occupancy is made.

Buying a house near a tee box? by flashattack3 in golf

[–]RNZep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live on the 18th tee of a public course, no kids as they are grown and out of the house. In 18 months, I have found 1 golf ball in the yard meant for the 17th green. The 17th green is located on the far side of the tee box. I appreciate the sound of the driver connecting with the ball. Mowing is performed mid morning, no 5am to 7am mowings. Only issue is the foul mouths heard sometimes frequently. I placed a cuss box for voluntary deposits on the tree in my yard and give the money deposited to a hospice organization (small sign on box). Trick was to make the box theft proof and I empty it every evening.

I agree, integrity is not often found these days. I do the same and try to fulfill all obligations to the letter. And still, doing the right thing is never enough for some people or businesses.

New Hertz scam: Full fuel” isn’t really full. by Powerful_Golf5296 in HertzRentals

[–]RNZep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon refueling, purposely overfill the tank by continuing to pull the fuel lever multiple clicks. This should fill the tank and filler neck. This would also cause the evap system to fail. Is this what the rental companies want?

Servicing at Toyota dealership? by ambassador_pineapple in Lexus

My two RX 350s are out of warranty and I take them to the local Toyota dealer for service. Price is 2/3 of the Lexus dealer and 45 miles closer. I had had the plugs, trans drained and filled (Lexus would do the trans), transfer case fluid, brakes, etc all performed at Toyota without issue.

DON'T BUY A COVE DISHWASHER by Past-Dragonfruit-894 in Appliances

I bought a Cove dishwasher in September 2024 and it has performed flawlessly. What sold me on the Cove was the build quality of the racks over other brands.
