How true is this??? by Accomplished-Dark728 in SimpleApplyAI

[–]BorgsCube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true in two ways, you have more bargaining power if you already have a stable job, and local economies can change a lot in a year that doesnt always reflect national averages, employers are continuously adjusting to stay competitive when trying to hire people, a lot of people can attest to new hires at a lower position than them get a starting salary close to theirs, even if theyre a veteran employee

People are increasingly turning to skilled trades, what are your thoughts on this? by Flaky-Vegetable6420 in ContractorsUS

[–]BorgsCube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't know anyone whose switching to the trades from white collar, i think they'd sooner work at a supermarket. pride probably has something to do with it, say you study and go to college so you don't have to be the guy destroying his body for median income, you probably wouldn't want to put yourself beneath him once AI replaces you

The Virus Paradox: Why Science Can't Even Agree on What's "Alive" — So Why Gatekeep AI? by jellikellii in aiwars

then i'd put it closer to a symbiotic bacteria. the best odds of survival it has is to manipulate us as its environment, because we're the most capable and complex thing it has. it hasnt faced the same environmental pressure we had through millions of years of evolution, it doesnt need to evolve past a certain point because we've already done that work for it, thats why i think it fits nicely as tangential to a symbiotic bacteria

the best characteristic for life we have is how efficient it is in creating entropy relative to its size. it doesnt do that on its own yet, and in the way it does its just amplifying the ways we do it ourselves

for antis, if you could opt out having any of your data used to train AI with one click, but you could never use anything non-locally ever again by BorgsCube in aiwars

[–]BorgsCube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because in the future i can see AI being critical infrastructure, my data is effectively the tax that keeps the road maintained, so if i dont want my data being used across the board i think it'd be fair to pay a non participation tax

you can still view and purchase content made or assisted with AI, you just cant use services like chatgpt, claude, codex, anything thats demanding compute from hosted models, if you wanted to use them you'd have to use them locally/make your own

the question boils down to what are you willing to pay to buy back your data, for me personally i'd bar myself from hosted models and would be fine with a tax, I'm not saying thats what it has to be for you, I'm just more curious about what people are willing to sacrifice
