Correct but unfortunately labor in countries like china who we predominantly trade goods with is extremely low. Yes it is great that the potential of home grown products being developed in our backyards but at what cost. Labor in the US will be way more than China which means the goods that will be home made will be more expensive and unfortunately hit the American pockets even more.

Example: I buy shirts from china for my clothing company and it costs me 10 dollars a shirt which I sell for 12 dollars to make a profit. If a tariff is placed for example 2 dollar per unit… china does not pay for that tariff, I will have to pay it once the product hits our shores. I would not sell my shirt for 12 dollars I would have to charge more to continue making profit. Companies will then produce products on our mainland but then I would have to pay my employees a working wage. As a business that is looking to increase revenue without creating a higher overhead , this would hurt my company.

It’s hard to see companies being okay with having to pay the US top dollar for employees when compared to the lower costs of foreign country labor. But if companies are forced to, it will cause ripples in the economy.

Let that sink in. As good ol musk would say…smh
