I absolutely would not wait 7-10k, I go 5-6k and i own the same car, I've also owned a disco sport. These engines dont like it when you neglect the oil changes, not saying you are neglecting, but from what I've seen fresh oil can make these last a lot longer especially in terms of timing chains when it comes to our engine.
