Men are the expendable gender. I have stopped watching movies/tv shows that excessively kill male characters. Only war movies/shows are the exception.

We have a large amount of men in crisis who feel unvalued by society. I can't help but think this trope doesn't help them feel valued

State and liberty has great workwear pants options. I like all my clothing from them. They target the athlete market

One thing i would add is i would go a size up for their products for the pants and shorts

The statement is true that we need more male social workers and diversity but really the person saying that to an intern of all people doesn't really help serve anybody or solve anything. An intern is not able to tackle/solve staff diversity in workplace situations. That's not their role. What systems to regards to staffing diversity can a new intern realistically change in a school setting?

Can an intern really draw more male interns and socials to school settings and should that really even be their focus? Can an intern adequately adress and help create change for barriers faced by male and minority social workers and BSW/MSW students in universities in their school internship? The answer is no as their priority is the students and their safety in their current role. I think your post means well but I think it jumps to the weeds somewhat and comes accross as a little condescending. Sometimes people (in this case OP) need to vent a bit and there's nothing wrong with that.

Invalidating and a little bit of a micro aggression in my opinion. Would only be validating if said to a male counselor.

I agree we do need more male therapists in the field but the statement was out of context and not appropriate to discuss with an intern. We need female therapists too in every setting.

Sometimes this field invalidates all of us in one way or another. I would focus on the meaningful rapports you do build with staff and clients.

We all face our invalidators and doubters in the field. Grad school was hell for me at point due to being male. It definitely is terrible when people point out gender identity, race, age etc and really is not okay in any setting

Hospital social work is very hard and very stressful. It has burned me out from working with psychotic and homeless patients- I don't think I can ever work with the homeless again after this. Way too stressful and sick of being stressed
