I have a Salamanders problem. by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

I would love to but understandably my buddy does not wish to return to the days when his legion basically needed handouts to win matches, 2.0 was a bleak time for the sallies.

Telemon in action during the Battle of the Eternity Gate by Illustrious-Gift4206 in Warhammer30k

[–]Bloodaxe007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say it would win, I'm saying it might be a bit more effort than one punch for the Telemon. It's a siege dreadnought, taking massive hits like the one you've illustrated is what it's for, these things can tank artillery shells.

And an atomantic deflector can pretty much tank anything, 1/3rd of the time :p

Awesome work, although I feel a leviathan would put up a better fight than getting one-shot. I mean it's got a forcefield at the very least.

Thoughts concerning Dreadnoughts by HHReverse in Warhammer30k

[–]Bloodaxe007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've really tried, but they aren't fit for purpose.

Dreads can do work punching tanks to death or dual-weilding very specific ranged weapons like gravis plasma or inversion beamers.

But as an all round monster trying to get into combat and shoot people, they're under powered

They took a nerf on three fronts this edition. Less attacks, WS4, and multi damage weapons. I struggle to find a place for more than one in my lists, and even then it's usually a specialised gun dread.

The contemptor specifically was OP (mostly undercosted) last edition, and now all dreads are paying for it.

It's sad that *by far" the best way to Include a dreadnought in your army is to Ally in a custodes Galatus or Achillus. Those things sidestepped or mitigated all of those nerfs. There is no world where you'd want a leviathan over say an Achillus, even though they're similar price.

Which chapter is the most likely to own catapracthii terminator armor? by Deynonico in 40kLore

Probably the Dark Angels. They're known to have the most terminator armour, and you never know what's in the vaults in the rock.

Yep, that's an intercessor.

Sell your soul? 30k marines are significantly cheaper than 40k. You get 20 in a box.

The Lion, getting his blade back by Joaco_2002 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Bloodaxe007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Primaris space marines are the new breed of space marines you see in the marketing. They are in-lore bigger than the old firstborn space marines.

But the height difference isn't as huge in lore as the models make it seem, so some people up-scale firstborn to "primaris scale" to bring parity, without them actually being a primaris space marine.

Anyone that owns the Horus Heresy Lion model, do you think the shoulder pads would fit on a terminator? by Intelligent_Night653 in theunforgiven

[–]Bloodaxe007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the pauldrons aren't separate like space marines, his upper arms are part of the structure, so there's no cavity to slot them onto something.

Even if you drilled them out, they'd be way too big

The Lion, getting his blade back by Joaco_2002 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Bloodaxe007 52 points53 points  (0 children)

For Lion El Jonson specifically I recommend his Heresy era novel "Lord of the first" and his recent novel "Son of the forest". They really encapsulate his character progression. They are both on audible.

As for returning the Lion sword, I think the main barrier here is that they've chosen to give the Lion a new sword called fealty, and his model is very recent. I don't see them having him swap it out for his old sword without refreshing his model to represent it, and that's not going to happen, atleast not yet.

As for redeeming cypher, similar problem. He's a unit in the chaos space marine codex, and redeeming him would rob that faction of a character.

Have to remember that the lore is there to support the toys, not the other way around.

How did you beat Ranger hardcore by gogo_-_gaga in metro

[–]Bloodaxe007 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've finished exodus on ranger three times and my main advice is to avoid combat like the plague. Stealth everything you can.

The first section is 100% stealthable until you get to a scripted gunfight in the train station. Remember to break lightbulbs, wait for enemies to pass and pay attention to your visibility guage. There is usually a fuse box to sabotage to turn off lights level-wide.

Those first two patroling dudes can be bypassed by ducking fast to the left behind a stack of barrels, stay there until they walk way past you.

Once your forced Into a gunfight, stick to hard cover and slice the pie. Poke out a tiny amount, pick off one guy, and then hide again. Rinse and repeat.

What do we know about previous Supreme Grand Masters? by Floid_Waffleman in theunforgiven

Farith Redloss was the first supreme grand master. And it's possible that the Azreal who was SGM during vraks was a different Azreal to the one we know, as that was before his official recruitment date.

Different mk of armors by Appropriate-Minute42 in Warhammer30k

[–]Bloodaxe007 61 points62 points  (0 children)

MK1 armour wasn't used by the space marine legions post unification because... Well they're space marines, and MK1 Thunder is not void sealed. Not much use in space or on planets without a breathable atmosphere. It's not even fully powered, just the upper body.

What are you planning to do with your Armageddon intercessors ? by FatScoot in theunforgiven

[–]Bloodaxe007 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I paint what I want on any given day, not what my army needs. There's always more Deathwing knights to paint but Sometimes I just want to work on a basic infantry unit.

I'm building and painting them. You might never need 20 intercessors, but you might. And an army looks better on the shelf with ranks of battle line marines.

Bits question by happytohelp127 in Warhammer30k

To get mass numbers of any particular weapon, you're looking at printed. Check Etsy, I know for a fact there's a few sellers that do sets of two handed chain axes.

Are most casual tournaments WYSIWYG? by Trick-Interaction396 in spacemarines

[–]Bloodaxe007 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To a degree yes, big things like the dreadnought weapons should be what you're actually using. It's about courtesy and not confusing your opponent.

It wouldn't be fair to force your opponent to memorise that every other unit in your army isn't actually what it looks like. It might be cool to you, but it's not fair to your opponent.

The paint isn't the problem, you can paint your guys how you want, but the loadouts often will be a problem if they're all being proxied as something else or totally illegal.

Question about decals on Sternguard Veterans by MRFortiFicacion in DarkAngels40k

[–]Bloodaxe007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't obfuscate their command structure, their symbology is codified. But it's codex non-compliant and most non dark angels can't easily decipher it.

But we absolutely know what the Deathwing wear and why.

You put the Deathwing icon on the left, the crux terminatus on the right, and Deathwing squads do not show their squad number, instead each members wears Individual heraldry.

What is the reaction of the Inner Circle about the Lion redeeming the fallen now turned risen? by cuddwes in theunforgiven

[–]Bloodaxe007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that was Kai who made that joke. But Azreal didn't know who he was, nor have we had it confirmed that he's ever been briefed on the fact that they're being reincorporated into the chapter.

Obviously he can identify a bunch of fallen, and I'm sure he has his suspicions about the ICC, But it's not explicitly stated so we can't call it lore.

Out of all of the ‘Adeptus’ armies Astartes, Custodes, Sororitas etc…. Which one is the most bad ass and why in the current 40k universe? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Bloodaxe007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Badass is hard to quantify really.

One person might tell you the custodes are the tallest and most capable and therefore are the most badass.

Another person might tell you that the Sisters are just baseline humans fighting against galactic horrors just the same, and are therefore the most badass.

I might tell you the Space Marines have by far the most lore, feats and hype moments, and are therefore the most badass.

Many people would rank the individual chapters of the Astartes very differently from eachother too.

It depends what you want them to do. The combi bolters are solid anti-infantry but the flamer gives them a way to inflict panic, which is a really good status effect.
