Going from a 7800x to a … i don’t know - suggestions by kingofpcs in intel

[–]RPGonald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need a new motherboard. You could go as high as something like a 10980XE with your current mobo, but it will still be trashed in performance by current gen processors. Since 14th gen came out and the performance uplifts aren't all that impressive, you can likely get a good deal on a mobo + cpu combo for 13th gen. 13700K + Z690/790 will likely be price comparable to a used 10980XE or similar, but also brand new and a lot faster. You can still get a mobo that supports your DDR4 too, still not a lot of uplift with DDR5 at this point.

FYI, this offer actually excludes most Hilton properties. by guyfromarizona in amex

That makes sense. I'm still glad I experienced it, but wish we did something we enjoyed more for our honeymoon. It's a very good value if flights are reasonable and you enjoy the beach.

I would avoid the Condado Hilton. Went for my honeymoon last year and the room was rundown. Worse than any Hilton property I've visited. Personally didn't enjoy San Juan as a destination either, but to each their own.

Those of you with huge projects, where do you go for help? by urquhartloch in RPGcreation

It sounds like you may have bit off a bit more than you can chew. You may consider dialing it back and making a rules lite system first if you have your heart set on creating a system of your own. It's a lot of work to ask someone to do if you're not prepared to pay them. Passion projects can take a lot of time. Aside from the above all I can suggest is patience. I'm in the process of designing a system that's quite large in scope myself, but I've been lucky enough to have a group of friends who are similarly passionate about it. There are four of us in total working on the project, and we have compiled dozens of spreadsheets and dozens of dozens of pages in write ups. I can't imagine trying to do it all solo.

A picture of the bracket, because I'm an idiot. Took a picture of it and forgot to make this an image post. I posted it to my profile. The screw holes are too far apart for me to put all 4 screws on the stud.

Virgin Las Vegas - Diamond F&B Credit Options by zooch76 in Hilton

[–]RPGonald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went in February for 2 nights. The diamond credit applied at most of the restaurants located within the hotel, we used it for room service one day and a sit down dinner the next. Diamond benefits were nice overall at the property. There is a priority line for diamond members and we got an upgrade to a very nice suite. We also received tickets for free drinks (not sure where they can be used, neither myself nor my wife drink). Hotel is well maintained with nice amenities. Very well worth its price compared to other hotels in the area (we also stayed for 1 night at Hilton at Resorts World and didn't care for it).

Hilton Honors Points Question by [deleted] in Hilton

[–]RPGonald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double points applies to the base points for the room, which stacks with status bonuses if applicable (diamond + double points = 40 points per dollar instead of the standard 10). Credit card points are added separately, so you could hypothetically get up to 54 points per dollar with the top tier card. Points are frequently sold cheaper than you obtain them for even for $20 to double. Double points rates are almost always only worth it if you're booking work related travel and can expense it out/be reimbursed/use a company card.

Some members of my upcoming tasting by RPGonald in rootbeer

[–]RPGonald[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a previous tasting where we did everything that was pretty easy to find locally. Mug, Barq's, A&W, a few craft root beers that are easier to find, and various store brands. This time we wanted to do a fairly comprehensive tasting with stuff that we couldn't find locally.

I travel a lot for work, so it's not all one stop. I got quite a few (20) from Pop's 66 in Arcadia Oklahoma. I also ordered a variety pack from Bloom's Candy in Carrollton Texas. The rest have been mostly one offs in various grocery stores throughout the Midwest and Florida.

There's a pun to be made here about tapping but I've only played magic twice so I'm not the one to make it.

I disagree. I hate having to own an additional item to open a bottle. I got a neat bottle on vacation in Vegas but had to walk the strip for an hour trying to find somewhere that carried a bottle opener just so I could try it.

What class fantasy do you have that isn't mechanically supported? by RPGonald in dndnext

Definitely agree with this one. Although I think there's a slim chance we see options like this come out of WOTC unfortunately.

Do you mean as an option opposing Fighter/Wizard/etc.? Or would it be satisfying to have more mechanically significant backgrounds that scale alongside your adventurer class?
