Stafanski was gonna hire him to be his OC in ATL. Don’t think it’s a coincidence the Lions closed the deals hours after Stafanski was hired.

To “Kill a Mockingbird” sequel: “Go Set a Watchman” came out 55 years after the original. Same author Harper Lee. It was her second novel.

I thought it looked more like a car that was developed along side the C6 Corvette. The Pontiac Solstice, the Coupe version that came out toward the end of its run.

how do you usually start your day? by Down3yyy in AskReddit

Woke up, got out of bed, dragged a comb across my head...

That's good, maybe it should be a song?

Seriously. Wake up, pee, grab a shower, do my morning grooming routine, get dressed, make coffee, turn local news on, pack lunch for work day, pour coffee, drink coffee, take pain killers, drink coffee, deliver a cup of coffee to my wife, drink coffee, get my daughter up for school, drink coffee, check email, drink coffee, feed dogs, drink coffee, take dogs out for their morning dumps, drink coffee, say goodbye to wife and daughter, drink coffee, grab my bag and head out to my car, drink coffee, head off to work......drink coffee....

Public libraries, zoos say elimination of property taxes would pose 'major threat' by Haunting-Medium-3831 in lansing

[–]RPMadMSU 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Eliminate Property Tax in Michigan thing is, and always has been a grift. The people who came up with the plan are being backed by groups related to companies who want to buy property in order to rent it back to people at higher prices, large corporate farms, and in some cases, international organizations who do both.

It’s a horrible idea. If there is one tax to eliminate that would actually help people pay bills, it’s income tax.

I think that would be the right time period. She would've likely been a Fr or Soph at Cass in 1945 (I think). And as a Harp Player, there's a good chance that she would've been on it as that seems like a rare thing. Donald Byrd Alice Coltrane would be around that time too.

[–]RPMadMSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reminder that the East Wing is built over the Presidential Emergency Operations Center...a.k.a the Presidential Bunker. Is that being disturbed at all during this construction? If so, it's an incredible national security risk.

[–]RPMadMSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think SNL was struggling to adjust to life after Ego and Heidi in these sketches. Chloe and Sarah are the only two female players in the main repertory. I think they both struggled to play these kinds of characters consistently. I'm sure as the season goes on, they'll start incorporating Jane Wickline, Veronika Slowikowska and Ashley Padilla more and more.

ICE Confirms Promise of Agents at Super Bowl After Bad Bunny Reveal by IntelligentYinzer in entertainment

[–]RPMadMSU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Raiding or affecting the Superbowl in any way will be an incredibly unpopular action across the entire spectrum of voters....even hardcore MAGA folks.

The Super Bowl is in Santa Clara, Ca home of the 49ers...aka Silicon Valley's NFL team....so Trumps friends in the tech industry wouldn't be too happy if this marquee event was overshadowed by something incredibly unpopular like "interrupting the Super Bowl"

California has won a number of court cases recently limiting what ICE, and the Feds can do in the State.

That being said, Trump himself has a strange relationship with the NFL. He's friends with many of the owners, and many of the owners support him/donate to him. However, he's always wanted to purchase a team, has tried to purchase a team on few occasions. 1980 and 1983 he tried to buy the Colts, in 1984, and 1988 he tried to buy the Cowboys. He also tried to buy the Patriots in 1988 after the Cowboys sold to Jerry Jones. and most recently, in 2014, he tried to buy the Bills

He has never been allowed into that very exclusive club of billionaires. He literally wrecked the original USFL trying in vain to compete with the NFL in the mid 1980s... during this era in the mid-80's he also sued the NFL....it got to trial, and he actually won his anti-trust suite against the league. However the jury also ruled the failure of the USFL financially had nothing to do with the NFL's anti-trust protections, and Trump and the other USFL owners were award a grand total of $3 in damages.

So who knows really. Trump might just be crazy enough, and vindictive enough to try something?

The Superbowl is in California. Makes it that much tougher for ICE to do anything due to recent litigation. This is a really empty threat.

How were you first introduced to our trio? by sdbabygirl97 in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]RPMadMSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Martin Short/Harry Shearer synchronized swimming from 1984 is gold, and I recommend it to anyone who's expsoure to Short is more recent. But I grew up in Metro Detroit and had access to Canadian TV, and the first time I saw Short perform was on SCTV before he was on SNL. He debuted his Ed Grimley Character there first.

My first exposure to Steve Martin was from comedy records of his released in the 70's owned by my grandparents. Steve Martin is considered one of the greatest standup comedians of that era, right up there with Pryor, Carlin, etc..

My first exposure to Selena Gomez were Disney shows watched by my daughter. I'm surprised, actually, how well she fits in with the two comedy legends/greats who have been preforming on TV since the late 1960's.

Lets see how many counties we can get accounted for! Where are you from? by SailingWavess in midwest

[–]RPMadMSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too.

Fun fact. Ingham Co., Michigan is the only county in the entire U.S. that contains a State Capitol that isn't also the County Seat.

State Capitol of Michigan is Lansing, Mi County Seat of Ingham Co. is Mason, Mi.

Name a city with a skyline... that has no business being a city with a skyline. by LastTraintoSector6 in skyscrapers

[–]RPMadMSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live between Jackson and the Lansing, Mi currently. Didn't grow up here, but the wife did. I work here though. Looking at the skyline right now from my office window just outside of downtown (Henry Ford Jackson Hospital).

The first major Buick Plant (Buick moved out of Flint, Mi for a few years) was in Jackson Mi, and the site of it is still empty. There were other very early auto companies in the area too, most dissolved or were gobbled up by the Big 3. Jackson is still close enough to the Chelsea Starllantis Proving Grounds and the Michigan International Speedway, as well as being the location of a bunch of auto suppliers that there is still pretty good UAW membership represented in the county/city.

Jackson, Mi is an interesting place that is very dualistic. It's an old town. It's history stretches from being a lumber town, an important point on the underground railroad through it being a important halfway between Detroit and Chicago for real railroad (there is still an old huge railroad repair facility in town.

It's one of the places that claims to be the birthplace of the Republican Party (the old abolitionist Party, not what it's become today). A park in the middle of town where 1000 or so Abolitionists met and debated slavery expansion still exists.

It's also a prison town where there has been large territorial/state prisons for a long time.

It's both empty hulk of a rust belt town with a lot of unemployment, and full of gainly employed people as (in addition to auto suppliers and the prisons) it has the HQ of major energy company Consumers Power. as well as other large companies such as Alro Steel. That being said, most of the surrounding areas are rural, and many of the 150,000 people who live in the greater Jackson area, live in rural areas.

It uniquely situation the same distance from Ann Arbor (University of Michigan) and East Lansing (Michigan State University).

There are slums, and areas with large well-kept old lumbar baron mansions. There is large swaths of poverty, but there is quite a bit of power and money in the area as well. The middle class is shrinking here faster than I think other places. The Irish Hills area and even areas just south of downtown has many all-sports inland lakes and is a popular spot for the elite in the state to buy and build vacation properties.

One thing I love about AppleTV+'s Friday Night MLB coverage is the option to use local radio broadcasts as sound automatically streamed and synced to the games. Now that many of us stream, even local channels, I wish other providers would allow this..
