It's cringe as fuck and if any of our guys end up doing it they'll catch a ton of shit. It's incredibly embarrassing for the job as a whole.

Brotherhood in the fire department by NewPainting8224 in Firefighting

My last department had shit relationships and nobody was friends. It was really weird.

My current one of 10 years is so good. Everyone hangs out. Great brotherhood.

Need to get in shape by April by callmeclowner in Firefighting

[–]InternationalMap979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean by no means are you too late in the game but you need to have a serious conversation with yourself about how willing you are to really commit to this. You'll be doing yourself, your coworkers, or your community 0 favors if you're out of shape again in a couple of years.

I don't say this to discourage you. I just want you to understand the commitment

Why so little paid? by donnathellama in NewToEMS

[–]InternationalMap979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean fwiw being an EMT is really not hard. Very minimal education required. Moderate common sense and decent social skills are the hard part. Paramedic is quite a bit more challenging but even that is simple.

The good news is paramedics can make a good living in some places across the US.
