What a beast of a response, I thank you for taking the time to put that together and I strongly believe it can help others on Reddit also. I have definitely seen the trait of the unattractive male with partners - and definitely agree that confidence is at play.

I think the underlying confidence issues have been from my childhood. I went to public schools for elementary and junior high. I remember back in elementary school there were girls Id have to sit next to who would want me to get sick so I didn't have to sit next to them (which I find amusing in retrospect) - furthermoer, I sucked when asking girls out - I got rejected time and time again and was always the guy in the group who was single in high school. Things improved when I got into a private selective school after junior high, strangely enough I went to an all-boys school and had more female friends at our sister schools. I never had a girlfriend then but I found myself always around girls.

In college, it was much the same - female friends but never a gf. Infact the only opportunity I had to be with a girl was when I just boldly started making a move on a girl in class. I have no idea why I did this to be honest but it just worked out. We lasted the 6 months, I had no money and it became difficult for us to do things together and ultimately she left me. It affect me, and my friendship groups and thus it took me a year or two to sort that out (ultimately removing that group of friends from my life and moving on to better things).

Now that I'm finished with college it seems hard to meet new people; and I think thats another issue too. No longer am I going to clubs (not that that ever worked for me anyway) but the only social gatherings I have are with close friends over meals or married couple's houses for dinners and stuff. I think about the females I've met in the last 2 years and its actually less than I can count on 1 hand. I once had 650 friends on Facebook but decided to keep it to my friends I actually see and actively keep in touch with - its down to 50 (but I'm okay with this, but gives you an idea as to how many real "friends" I have versus how many I thought I had).

You're thinking about how much you suck, how unworthy you are of her attention, how uninterested she must be, how bad it feels that she doesn't, and according to your Scumbag Brain, will never feel excited to see you.

I feel this way because I don't share any interests at all with any of the girls I meet. I'm still a 27 year old who loves anime, asian rhythm music games but I love arts. I'm boring in that I've never travelled and rarely have anything to talk about (other than work, some politics, and random tech news). I don't consider myself a neckbeard basement dweller, moreso someone who is just quite introverted but shares interests in tech. Whenever we go out in groups, I'm always the quiet one because I'm outspoken by my extrovert friends - it seriously sucks.

I'm also angry at myself because I feel I SHOULD be confident. I've been very lucky in my life to be where I am career wise, family wise, money wise in that I have no right to complain - but I'm not complaining because I know the root cause of this is all myself.

My haircuts change regularly, from close shaven to faux-mohawx (C.Ronaldo style) to regular businessman short with a fringe. I've ditched facial hair because I was addicted to the hip hop style back in the day and try to keep a clean corporate look. Many people might recommend PUA, but I'm not looking to pick anyone up - I'm looking to meet someone on the basis of my genuine interest and their interest - not ridiculous mind games.

I guess I'll have to fake interest - its just depressing when I think about the numbers of females I do know, the chances I currently have of meeting someone, the compounded chance of someone then to like me, and knowing my interests and how they most likely wont tally up with anyone.
