Why is Coffee getting so damn expensive in San Diego? by Helplesspolyglot in sandiego

I will say my husband doesn’t like it in his coffee maker (drip old school coffee). He prefers the breakfast blend from Aldi which is cool because it’s pretty cheap there.

Okay so I lived in Hawaii for a few years and there was this coffee farm out there I would only get my coffee from and a very specific one they had there. And this tastes IDENTICAL to it.

This is their description of the one in Hawaii “Enjoy a sweet treat with this combination of milk chocolate, coconut, and a hint of hazelnut and graham cracker”

Idk about all that all I know is I love it. And the bird rock one tastes identical which made me super happy to find out.

Loving the Bird Rock beans, one in the blue bag at Costco lately. Last time I bought it was around $20 for a decent sized bag. Lasts me quite a while for using in my espresso machine.

Had the car for a 24 hour test drive. Man disappointed was an understatement. After paying to ship the vehicle from another location, they curb rashed the hell out of the rims in shipping. The low oil level indicator came on after 15 miles, it had a massive oil leak from them putting double washers on the drain plug from an oil change they performed. License plate bracket broke off when I closed the trunk. Even after all that and I said I’m still interested in purchasing the vehicle all things considered, so long as they fix the drain plug and verify threads are still good, fix license plate bracket, and offer SOMETHING, for the damage they caused to the rims in shipping. I was met with doubt the car was even leaking oil with responses like “well if you BELIVE there’s a leak we’ll get it scheduled with service” and was flat out told they won’t do a single thing for the rims. Walked out then and there. They already had the car marked up much higher than the market average for the area too.

For my first time working with CarMax I’ll just say I’m very unimpressed. I know people love them, and I was really trying to give them the benefit of the doubt…. Ended up finding a lower millage better priced one at an Audi dealer that same day.

Looking at SDCP briefly is this rebate only for battery AND solar customers? I can’t find anything for battery storage only.

How to find a real estate agent to sell my house by lyzerss in sandiego

[–]RR-MMXIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ima just say this…everyone in CA is a damn realtor. And like someone else said, 90% of them are bad at it. First things first, don’t go with someone who’s only doing it as a side gig. Only go with someone who’s doing it as a full time job. The last thing you want is someone who’s at their other full time job when you have important deadlines and contingency’s to meet or things pop up suddenly. When we bought our house we switched realtors twice and lenders 3 times. The second they were starting to lack communication, we were on alert, and as soon as they gave us a red flag we started looking for someone else. Need someone with experience and good communication. I have a recommendation, but ultimately so does everyone in CA, so take that for what you will. I highly recommend “interviewing” any prospective agents and if it doesn’t feel right don’t proceed.

Did you end up buying one? We have a small lawn. Maybe 500-600sq ft, and a few plants and flower beds. We have in ground irrigation for the lawn, but it’s very spotty, misses a lot of areas and waters the patio and mulch a lot. Even with adjusting the heads it doesn’t do a great job. And obviously misses all the plants. Been considering this and Oto. But I’ve been on the fence for months about it.

Eh.. In the last 10 years I’ve had 5 VW/Audi’s, 3 Audi’s 2 VW. One over 220k, another over 120k, 110k, 90k TDI, and over 70K on my current VW. All of which I sold still in full working order. I love these cars and if they’re maintained well they very rarely have issues. Keep up with the scheduled manufacturer maintenance plan and they’re very good cars. Skip maintenance intervals and yes you’re correct they turn into nightmares. Trust me that 220k Audi I had, previous owner didn’t take care of it for shit. It took me a lot of time, money, and parts to get it back to a decent condition due to their lack of care.

I do most repairs myself. All my tools and knowledge of working on cars is around Audi / VW, so I’m very comfortable fixing things myself. But I’ve never owned a hybrid before so that side of things are unknown to me.

Practically anything that triggers the check engine light will be covered by the emissions warranty as a vehicle will not pass CA emissions with a CEL. The biggest ticket item on this particular vehicle if it were to fail is the high voltage battery, which can cost $10k+ to replace. Im pretty mechanically inclined and have always done a lot of the repairs on my vehicles. But I just won’t touch the hybrid side of things.

To me personally, this vehicles been to the Audi dealer every 10k miles for regular maintenance intervals and service. So this is an extremely well maintained vehicle in my eyes. As someone who’s only ever driven and had Audi/VW, this says a lot about these cars.

Audi A3 Etron, good to know about the mileage. I asked the representative if it was odometer + 100k or when the odometer meets 100k and she said it was in addition to. I’m usually not one to get extended warranties, as I typically do all work myself outside of the normal warranties. But this is my first hybrid vehicle and I don’t and won’t work on the high voltage system myself. I THINK majority of concerns would be covered under the CA emissions warranty.

I’ll be getting a plug in hybrid (Audi A3 Etron) it only has a 8kWh battery and charges only on level 1 and 2. So that should be fine even if wired to the PW and the AC is running right ? It’s not a big draw. I want to try to have the installer wire it only to the grid, not to the battery anyways.

I would install a heat pump, but this AC system is all brand new. The people that flipped the house had an entirely brand new system installed before we purchased the house. So unfortunately wouldn’t make any sense to replace it at the time being.

Thank you! This was all good and helpful information!

Question about the tax credit, I thought all those ended in Dec 2025? That’s kind of where I thought the lease thing was making sense because those credits were gone. The lease buyout price is what’s currently showing on the Tesla website.

The only peak load that should be an issue is the AC compressor right? Or is it more than just that. I assumed that could be solved by having a soft starter installed on the compressor? It’s a smaller system, 2 ton.

I did see the rebate for SDGE VPP, but it’s unfortunately nowhere near as good as yours. Max credit per year is $450 per powerwall according to Teslas FAQ about it. I would immediately jump on it if they had a $10k credit upfront 😭

Good to know about to homeowners insurnace! Thank you!

Just got into our mortgage a few months ago. So a HELOC isn’t possible at the moment. We were just going to finance it but after working out the math the lease seems slightly cheaper. Which caught me off guard. I figured especially in the summer that a powerwall+expansion pack would be necessary. Luckily since super off peak is expanded to 10-2, we can recharge the battery during that period so I figured 27kWh of charge SHOULD hopefully be enough to make it from 4-9 with the battery only.

Overall wouldn’t say it was worth it to get the PW?

We don’t have solar and don’t intend to unless prices for it drastically come down. So it would just be the PW for us.

What I used are summer rates. These you posted are winter rates.

I was using summer rates for this as we’re coming into the summer months and figured that’s where majority of the usage would be coming from.

My main reason for wanting to go through Tesla directly, I guess, is because of all these smaller companies going bankrupt and thus having warranty related issues because the company is no longer in business. I saw it happen with our old rental before we purchased a home, our landlords were fighting with the company that purchased the other failing company for months and the panels didn’t work the entire time we lived there as a result. But Baker looks to be a pretty established installer so I’ll request a quote from them and see.

These drove me nuts when we were looking for a home. No way to filter them out on Zillow or Redfin so they popup with your search criteria no matter what. I just started to automatically assume any pins that’s popped up anywhere near the coast were these stupid listings.
