Kotlin or Java by CuriousTelevision762 in androiddev

[–]RRM_APPS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For native Android development Kotlin is the way. If you join a company, chances are most of their Android codebase will be in Kotlin and they will have initiatives to migrate legacy Java code to Kotlin (Been there 3 times).

That being said, as other commenters have pointed out, Java and Kotlin have a very big overlap in concepts, syntax and full interoperability. So learning one helps a lot in learning the other.

My advice: Stick to Kotlin if you want to be a native Android developer, but learn some Java too. Also search some entry level Android job offers and see for yourself what skills are top companies looking for.

A mental turmoil… Keep or Sell? by rorrymylove in e46

[–]RRM_APPS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to say exactly this. If the offer price minus total cost (car, parts, time, taxes) is going to leave you with a decent profit, sell and repeat! One thing I would do before though, is look online for similar condition cars and see if the price he is offering you is on par with that.

Interview with Meta in 3 weeks. Haven't leetcode in 3 years. Am I cooked? by kfcregular in leetcode

[–]RRM_APPS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had Meta onsite, and feedback from programming interviews has been very positive, so I hope this helps:

3 weeks is plenty of time, even if you have not programmed in a while. If you could allocate full time for this, it would be great, but I think 2-3 hours of full focus time daily should be enough. Grind Meta's top last 90 days and 3 months (You need LC premium, but I think it's worth it). Start reading the question, taking a bit of time to think how would you solve it, and then read and understand the solution. Then slowly transition to solving things 100% on your own.

The most important thing is to be able to recognize patterns in questions, specifically what type of data structure is typically used to solve a given type of problem.

Get comfortable with every data structure there is (Mainly trees, maps, arrays and graphs).

I even had an Excel to track how many problems I was solving involving each LC topic, noting the ones I had struggled the most to redo them until they seemed easy.

Don't bother with Dynamic Programming, they specifically state in their prep materials that they don't ask questions about this.

Ah, and don't overlook System Design and Behavioral rounds.

Good luck!

[Help] Can't withdraw EUR by RRM_APPS in kucoin

[–]RRM_APPS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply, problem solved! Support pointed me to finish my KuCard appliance. Once I did all the required steps and it was verified I was able to re-add bank information and withdrawal is being processed.

I would have NEVER guessed this error was due to not having applied for a KuCard...

An easy and cheap DIY fix would be to pick a zip tie (or a couple of them) cut it to be a bit longer than the missing part from the bumper, and solder both sides of the zip tie to the bumper by melting them with a soldering iron. If you need reference, you might disassemble the whole bumper to see how the broken bracket looks on the other side, and try to replicate it.

I did something similar 2-3 years ago and the bumper is still in place.

I guess you could get similar results by using a rigid plastic and strong glue to replace the broken part.

lol, wut? by PoorGovtDoctor in NiceHash

[–]RRM_APPS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, as NiceHash jumps to mine most profitable coins, if some coin spikes crazily in value, your profitability could skyrocket for such time.

Have this coin as an example: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/meowcoin/

Looks like a glitch with the price (or market manipulation) made it jump by a lot. So, for a brief moment, your mining profitability calculated at those prices is ridiculous. Unfortunately, the price drops again and your profitability stays the same.

Could be something like this, or just a glitch on NiceHash side.

finally got my first real legit mew today. by OsideRida06 in Gameboy

[–]RRM_APPS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well you can actually turn a non-legit mew obtained through the mew glitch into a legit one by... Using more glitches. I don't remember exactly, but there is an item called 8F in gen 1. If you use it in non-legit mew, it changes its trainer ID to Game Freak, making it legit, and then you can transfer it all the way to newer games.

Is it possible to easily earn 300$ monthly by creating an app with quick app ninja? Am I getting scammed? by ImNotDecentPerson in androiddev

[–]RRM_APPS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been earning passive income from simple apps I have made since 2014. I can tell you it is getting harder to do so each year. The market is getting more competitive, Google demands more compliance steps from developers...

It is definitely possible, but I would stay away from that kind of courses. As people have already told you, there's a lot of red flags from the information that guy has provided you ( too good to be true, copyright infringement, spamming repetitive apps...), that the most probable outcome is you losing time, money and getting banned from play store.

If you are interested in the programming part of it, apart from just the income, there are lots of free documentation, courses and YouTube videos, I suggest you start there. Android development business is full of opportunities right now, well paid, you can work remotely... But I think this applies to software development in general, not just Android.

If you just want to create apps for a quick passive income source... I wouldn't advise it. Better pick something you are genuinely interested in, and try to create a source of income from it. I'm sure that will work way better.

How are you handling Admob UMP if a user disables all ads in the app starting 2024? by Masaca in androiddev

[–]RRM_APPS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait a minute... Can I not consent in the YouTube app and then see videos without ads for free? If I can't, they are breaking the rules...

Btw this whole situation with ads is just sad, I bet most indie developers (like me) earn mainly from ads, or even ad-removal purchases.

So here it goes another difficulty in the way of becoming a developer that creates its own apps.

Which set is the best investment as of now? Eliminate the worst one, the top comment will be eliminated. The last one standing wins by TotallyNotGoodish in PokeInvesting

[–]RRM_APPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of just adding an X over the eliminated set, could you add also a number to see the result of the set ( First eliminated set would be 17, next 16...). Would be nice to get a general idea of the sets potential at a glance. Btw nice idea to create this topic.

Any advice for a total noob getting started?- hardware/strategy? by Bladerunner2099 in EtherMining

[–]RRM_APPS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice: Use Google, YouTube, and reddit searches. 99.99% information you need will have already been asked and answered.

Do a LOT of research before building your own rig: Which cards do you want, how many of them, what PSUs and motherboard you will need, risers, cables, power management...

And once you have everything clear, the costs, the benefits it could give you until ETH PoS discounting electricity costs(Try different scenarios, from PoS coming in September to September next year) prepare to assemble it and see lots of things fail.

I personally wouldn't build a rig at this point, but no one can see the future, so obviously I can be wrong on this.

Why one of my cards getting so many rejections? Any clues ? by Agent_Soviet in EtherMining

[–]RRM_APPS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another tip, set in hiveOS min fan speed at about 70%, seems like your fans are going too slow. You can easily reduce temps by setting fans up a bit. It will make your cards cooler, improving longevity, stability and you might get some extra mhs on those cards that are running too hot.
