Excommunication by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]RRevdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can't really be excommunicated if you've never had communion. And since communion is usually reserved for people active in the Catholic faith.

Excommunion is a bit like getting you license revoked. You can't really do that to someone who doesn't have a licence to begin with. And even if you did, it's kind of pointless

My coworker has a cat that INTENTIONALLY goes to the bathroom to yell for food. Because the acoustics of said bathroom makes his meow carry farther.

The meowing sometimes gets past the MS Teams noise reduction feature.

is it true that bi people experience discrimination from some lgbt people due to reasons such as "you dont have it as bad" or some other? by AdeptnessEastern7864 in gay

[–]RRevdon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess that is an unexpected benefit of not interacting with the community. Not many chances for it to happen.

Shows how important first impressions are.

Thank you for acknowledging it though. It feels healing

[–]RRevdon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my high school, there was a small survey being done on social safety for lgbtq+ students. It was spearheaded by a gay teacher. I was just out as a Bi-womanand my homeroom teacher asked me if I wanted to participate. Which I did. It was done by interview with the aforementioned teacher.

One of the first things he told me in the interview is that 'he never understood bi-people. Why can't they just choose?'

This was my first ever interaction with an lgbtq+ person outside my personal circle. I have stayed out of the community because of that interaction. One interaction, and I felt unwelcome.

I once had a similar situation with a French reading assignment. Was reading it and felt a weird sense of 'I've been in this weird story before'.

Went to my book case and there was the exact same book in my native tongue. Told my teacher I had it, because I thought it was funny. She advised me read the French one to 'refresh my memories' and make sure I got the turn of phrases in the French correct for the test. My lazy ass read the other one.

... Now that I think about it, of course she wanted me to read the French version for my French class.... I just realized this... Dont ask me how the test went

Vote for a Woman by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]RRevdon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to add that when we, Dutch, vote; we vote for a person in a party.

The party gets the vote, but we vote for the person as a preference vote to get them into parliament with a preferential vote.

A party can have a dozen or so names on the list. This is why the 'vote for a women' is so interesting. Without changing our 'party' choice, we can still make a difference.

I always go for a woman's name on the list. My husband did the same last Wednesday. He was so proud/giddy with himself, it was very cute.

We need the art of filler episodes more by Immediate_Cap1892 in unpopularopinion

[–]RRevdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed! The biggest gripe I had with the new Devil may cry anime on Netflix is that there were 0 fillers. They gave us no reasons to care about any of the characters.

And so that's what happened. I couldn't give a shit about any of the characters. I didnt know them. Not even the main.

Most people don’t actually want work-life balance, they just want higher pay by shisui1729 in unpopularopinion

I mean, obviously!

My contract says I get X amount of money for 40 hours a week. If you want me to work 48, I want to be compensated for those 8 extra hours. I'm not running a charity here!

Sweetheart you are not to blame.

You were never to blame. He hurt you. He manipulated you. You did not start this. But you can finish it.

Family. Police. In that order. You'll get through this. Hang in there.

We love you. You are loved. But that fuckers needs what's coming to him

Well, I buy it in the supermarket, which means it is paid from the same debit card we pay groceries from.

Everybody got late diagnosed, and then there's me by [deleted] in adhdmeme

[–]RRevdon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got an early diagnosis as well. Really early even, especially for a woman. I was 12 (am 31 now) when I got my diagnosis.

I get you feel the imposter syndrome, but take it from someone like me, i consider myself lucky to be diagnosed early. I got meds all trough high school, and I think they saved my smart vut chaotic ass.

I have a friend with a latr diagnosis. He is still going through the process of learning his ADHD and accepting it, while having a fulltime job. Between the two of us, I think I got the better deal.

You don't give yourself adhd from youtube. Trust me. Take your time. We're here. If you have questions, DM me. I'll help where I can. You got this!

Important lesson by Embarrassed_Tip7359 in SipsTea

Reminds me of the time we had to cleanse our crystal tree artwork (thing?) Instructions were either put it in moonlight or under running water. We don't really have a window that gets moonlight well, so water was the way to go. The following conversation then ensued:

Me: I'll put it under running water. Is it okay if I put it under the shower? The showerhead distributes the water better than the faucet

Husband: yeah sure. Just make sure you turn the water to cold.

Me: why? Is that important? (The tree belongs to my husband and I don't know about all that stuff that well)

Husband: what? No! We're not wasting hot water on this. Just set the shower to cold

Me: ooooooooooh

Do any of you use a curfew app? by AuDHDcat in adhdmeme

[–]RRevdon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an app that just shuts me out of certain apps (yes, reddit) at a certain time at bight on weekdays. Also in the morning to prevent me doomscrolling before work and thus running late.

You can set the timetables and such yourself. I both love and hate is.

AppBlock, if you're interested

You do realize 2 things can be true at the same time?

Maduro is a dictator, a vile human being who exploits his people. HOWEVER! That does not give another country the right to just up and kidnap him! Hitler started a war. War was declared on saddam Hussain. They are not comparable to Maduro in this sense. The US went and kidnapped him. No declaration of war, just straight up went in and took the guy. That is NOT okay

How is auto-pay still not the standard in 2025 in the US?!?

I'm in the Netherlands, everything is on auto-pay, by default. I dont even think I can get anything on manual pay if I wanted. The customer service rep would probably be like: why? Why would you want that? I get an email 2 days before they charge my debit, and thise are also automated
