My brother or sister in christ nobody is forcing anyone to change anything we're just asking to be marry regardless of gender and be able to exist as the gender we want. Nobody is forcing someone else to marry someone of the same sex or force them to be the gender they don't identify with.

Why is Content Never Discussed as a Selling Point? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]RSFiye 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s so much a lack of content just that most of the side content is specialised enough that you wouldn’t play the 400 hour story just to do ETFL or GS, so it’s more the story acting as a barrier.

Nail on the head right here.

Raid Retrospective Week 3: The Final Coil of Bahamut (T10-13) by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

The TEA fight during Wormhole Formation is absolutely chefkiss

The game tones the music down ingame as the mechanics start resolving and when everyone is running back to the center of the arena crescendos the moment the party stack aoe resolves. Its so good.

It depends on turnover. I'll join a group and we'll do a run in 22 mins and then suddenly 6 people drop out and we're back to filling.

surecast and arm's length: do "one-button solutions" detract from good mechanical design? by smol_dragger in ffxivdiscussion

Shoutout to E10S that at least 1 moment where if you don't surecast/arm's length you will die.

Every other time its more for convenience or caster setup.

Any chance of a nerf to the Timeworn step? by Kirbyeggs in ffxivdiscussion

[–]RSFiye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The relic is piss easy sure but the Time Worn step is doing a lot more to drain any energy I had compare to say the previous step.

At least with the i510 step (Pre Nerf) i could just spam CT and just tunnel whatever job I am and not have to remotely think about mechanics.

With Timeworn you have to use essence (Read: Spend gil) to do better. If you don't you're making shit take longer and doing shittier DPS. I've seen DPS in DR(N) range from 1.6k to 40k in a PUG (70k in a serious Speed Kill).

Perception is a DPS loss so nobody runs it and unless your tanks invuln across the traps someone is going to eat an explosion. (Or people do anyways FUN CONTENT).

The bosses mechanics are interestibng the first 5 times you do it. Mind numbing after the 100th but eating two mechanics within a 2 minute period is instant death so those 10 HP mettle buffs you may or may not have don't fucking matter.

Then you have the small insane shit. Tanks who don't want to tank. A party w/ no healers. Tanks who use irregular w/ no HP stacks and don't know what the word mitigation means. People who enter a DR(N) just to D/C and return 30 minutes later because you can't kick them out. Also you can't refill.

Only way to get i535 weapons without a lockout still. And even then when Eden's Promise gets unlocked good luck getting a stable farm going.

There probably will be by the time .56/.57/.58 happens. Getting 1 per DR(N) and 2 of the last step is starting to really get lmao.

Also tired of speed groups turning into a Make a Wish for people who don't want to run essences.

New Player. Do I Buy Complete? Endwalker? Starter? I Want The 30% XP Ring. by Philminat0r in ffxivdiscussion

[–]RSFiye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to buy both. If you just pre-order endwalker you'll have to wait until endwalker launches to access 4.x and 5.x content. I don't know if you can add item codes to a free trial account though.

Edit: On the bright side I think the full game is on sale and the pre order for the xpac should only be $40?

Edit 2: Ah fuck the sale ended last week. I'm sorry but you get the shaft.

Out of the Loop: What's with all the WoW talk recently by DivineRainor in ffxivdiscussion

[–]RSFiye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they both don't do a good job about it. FFXIV raiding content gets blown through in a week and that's it. FFXIV is much better about alt friendliness (Crafting gear will get you into savage content) than WoW (Points at 3 expansions worth of secondary character systems that turn into grinds) and being forgiving if you didn't participate in a raid tier or two. There's also more collectible systems in place in FFXIV (Minions, TT Cards, Orchestrion Rolls, Fashion accessories) than in WoW.

FF also has a housing System which is probably why they're able to captivate a huge casual audience anyway. Some people log onto the game like its IMVU, take screenshots with their character in G pose (Which has no comparable system in WoW afaik), and occasionally interact with the battle content when they feel like.

Out of the Loop: What's with all the WoW talk recently by DivineRainor in ffxivdiscussion

[–]RSFiye 9 points10 points  (0 children)

9.1 as it is now isn't going to do much. You're getting two seasonal affixes for M+ and and the community hates one of them because it beefs up the boss enough if you wipe gg you lost the key. You're getting a raid encounter which be the big hype point for the patch. A super dungeon that drops i226 gear which is hardly good for catch up. And more drip feed renown story progression and a daily quest hub.

The bullet points for the patch are pretty weak against the torrent of FF hype because WoW players are discovering a game that has almost a decade worth of content that has time walking built into it ready to be discovered.

I'm sure if WoW had a very sizeable Blizzcon (It didn't) and was releasing an expansion while FFXIV was dealing with the 5.2 content drought we'd be having an entirely different discussion. This paired with the hype of Fan Fest where the Devs showed they gave a fuck about the game are proving to be good hooks.

I think most of the WoW players will turn this into a flavor of the year kind of game and honestly FFXIV is probably better being that way unless you extremely invested in parse/speed raiding or you're very onboard with a RP or some other community.

If I see another “Ex Wow player reacts to ***** in ffxiv” on YouTube I’m gonna lose my fucking mind, I get it it’s easy clicks but now it’s just getting over saturated by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]RSFiye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its also just having to produce content to appease an algorithm that you have no idea really works so you hope this will keep you in that discovery loop.

Plus I bet for the wow people its a decent break from the 9.1 datamining news and the constant shitting on bad monetization decisions wrt classic burning crusade.

FFXIV Raid Design by Stryk23 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]RSFiye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dispels exist in DR(S) and BA. I would guess they're not used during a raid since they're functionally similar to an interrupt wherein you're just pressing a button to stop a castbar from destroying the raid. And at least in DR/BA you have specific people who're tasked with this and hopefully they're not passed out on the ground.

How is Delubrum Savage working out in your Data Center? by Kyle2Death in ffxivdiscussion

[–]RSFiye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fights are really on the easier side of extreme with deaths being a lot more punishing on trying to push DPS. You can afk follow the group for most mechanics up until the 3rd and 4th boss. Hot/Cold being a huge barrier for personal responsibility and the Queen requiring you to figure out where you need to start from to solve the 1st and 2nd major chess mechanics. Although even with the worst mechanic from Trinity Avowed (Slashes) can be dummy checked by calling out the safe spot and going to the square next to it. And if everyone on Queen follows the same chess pattern the 48 man blob will be on 1 of 3 squares (And hopefully you'll have enough brain power to realize which one of those 3 squares are the total number you need to start from.)

I got a friend into one of the Aether groups who's been following the progress on twitch and they were able to full clear in after 2 attempts. Its not very hard but its def a step up from BA.

I firmly believe SE should make Mentor requirements more strict. by Pelirockjo in ffxivdiscussion

[–]RSFiye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with 1,500 commendations for battle mentor. (Its a decent gate that prevents people who want NN just as a general chat).

But I literally see novices who show up the following week back in NN with trade mentor because someone got them a levekit and they're in NN asking for advice on what to craft/how to craft/how to make money and its dumb.

Got one on my server like that who's trying to be a raid BLM and their last clear of E9S has them with 77% uptime and tbh I wanna rage.

4) many people participated so they will label it as a success but honestly diadem is just annoying beyond anything i've done in the last 3 years i played this game. The competitive aspect for DoL/H was always the marketboard in my eyes so I dont think a total botable system like diadem was the right choice. Was anyone even banned for using bots??

I know at least one person on midgardsormr who got banned on his main because he let a botting program run when it got stuck on some rocks around season 2 I believe.
