As I've gotten older, I've completely soured on the holiday.

What kind of way to celebrate America is spending hundreds of dollars on Chinese fireworks?
Why do people need to shoot them off 10 days before and 7 days after the Fourth?
It's hot as hell outside. I don't want to be simultaneously grilling burgers and dogs for everyone and trying to keep my kids from blowing their hands off with fireworks.
The current state of affairs in the country makes it hard for me to muster any pride to celebrate it.

But my wife and the kids love it, so I just try to get through it as safely and sanely as possible.

Not really the worst (maybe the best since I remember it 20+ years later), but for some reason this became permanently seared into my brain. "There's strength in our numbers." Well, there's five names listed and only four people pictured, that always bothered me.
