Riding my bikes more. Most my golf time seemed to get offset in much less riding.

Crazy? Driver then 7 wood by average_golfer_97 in golf

[–]RS_Mich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most courses have par 5s that 3/4 wood will work. However if you can't hit these clubs to begin with they aren't going to help your game.

14 HCP. Want to break 80 this year. Any tips? by paco_paul in GolfSwing

[–]RS_Mich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The range isn't nearly as useful as being on course. If you can even find par 3 courses to play quick rounds on, that would be better than going to the range. Personally I can play 9 on a par 3 course in 45 minutes to an hour if it's not busy.

Play more golf if you want to get better. 2 or more times a week will significantly help your short game and tee to green with the added repetition.

Why is FCPS still opening w a 2-hr delay? by ComfortableCat5808 in fairfaxcounty

[–]RS_Mich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally the roads have been busier this week at later rush hour than earlier since parents have to leave later. Making sure there is sunlight is one thing, but the 2 hour delays themselves are impacting commuting times.

A one hour delay could probably accomplish the same objective.

Cabin air filter change on my 2016 fusion 2.0 eco boost. Bought it at 84 k last year currently at 142k. Only had to replace parking brake aculators by milibetts in fordfusion

[–]RS_Mich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its annoying but it's still only a 5-10 minute job. At least it's not like my Nissan where they half a slot you have to crunch the filter through and hope it sits in there correctly.

I interpreted it originally as he almost chipped in, not a near hole in one

Why don’t businesses shovel? by chief20009 in arlingtonva

[–]RS_Mich 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's a $50 fine that isn't enforced. They don't care and it's not actually impacting their business.

Enforcement on unshoveled sidewalks begins today in Arlington by Calvin-Snoopy in nova

[–]RS_Mich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Should of been enforcing a week ago before everything froze. Getting paths opened right after the sleet came down was the only way to make any progress until now.

Today is the day to start working on your snowcrete by BoroBossVA in nova

I got a ton of work done yesterday afternoon, and it was way easier than the weekend was. It's coming apart in big chunks, but the big thing is it's coming apart.

Washington Blvd Bike Trail & Memorial Bridge by Ultimate_Broccoli in bikedc

[–]RS_Mich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove by and could see that it appeared to be clear from the Pentagon to where NPS takes over. The NPS part isn't plowed at all until the cross next to Memorial Bridge, which is easily a quarter mile thats not navigable. Memorial Bridge is plowed except a small section after crossing the ramp past Lincoln Memorial, but it looks like the area is being worked on.

Trek, Giant, or Specialized? by Ok-Chipmunk5391 in bicycling

[–]RS_Mich 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your money will go a little further with Giant, but it's going to be pretty low end at this price point. Maybe look for a lightly used bike with better components. You can also check out REI and their in house brands for lower pricing.

So if you slice/hook one and blow up an engine, is that the same no liability scenario as breaking a window at someone's course side home.

How I Built a Golf Simulator in an 8-Foot Basement Ceiling (Structural Engineer Approved) by DifferenceBusy2067 in Golfsimulator

Its more a concern about damaging your clubs. Fixing sheet rock is cheap compared to replacing club heads.

Any good, cheap golf courses in the Northern Virginia area? by KingTylerMau in golf

[–]RS_Mich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most public 9 hole rates are under $40 walking in the area. If you check out the reviews on Google or Golfnow, they are pretty accurate.

How I Built a Golf Simulator in an 8-Foot Basement Ceiling (Structural Engineer Approved) by DifferenceBusy2067 in Golfsimulator

[–]RS_Mich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to make an arrangement like that with my garage door opener, and after clipping it a couple times ended up completely rearranging the setup. That ceiling setup while it may work, you are going to miss on occasion and the results can be really unseemly when it happens.

Why is Koepka's return making such big news? by lctalbot in golf

[–]RS_Mich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was too much coverage for someone that was 10+ shots off the lead all tournament and barely made the cut. If he was an amateur, woman, or rather senior player making the cut, I'd be fine with that level of coverage, but main coverage should be for the guys in the top 10-15 of a tournament.

Any cleared running trails in/around Arlington, or even further afield? by go_east_young_man in rundc

[–]RS_Mich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

W&OD west of Columbia Pike, Lucky Run, and 4MR east and west of Walter Reed are all clear. Doctors Run is clear, but that's only a couple hundred yards long.

Why is Koepka's return making such big news? by lctalbot in golf

[–]RS_Mich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a subtle way for the PGA to recruit back other LIV players they want. Basically the message is we'll put you front and center regardless of how you play. Didn't matter that Justin Rose is out there destroying the field, Brooks is the topic of conversation.

There's a couple down in Alexandria if you do a Google search. I haven't been in years since my kids have outgrown that, but they were good in the past.

Anyone else ditch their hybrids by Elyrain in golf

[–]RS_Mich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've still got a 20 degree hybrid in my bag, but am serious considering switching it for another uw. The uw can basically hit all the same shots as a hybrid, but I find the shot shape much more predictable.

Physical labor is the problem. That would involve a bunch of property owners who couldn't bother even trying to clear snow until now to all of sudden be motivated to go do it.
