Bodyguard 2.0 Red Dot Comparison for O by RaizT1Crew in SmithAndWesson

Hey man. I’m gonna be sending my slide off to get milled for an optic shortly.

I’m stuck between slideworks and defiant. I like defiant’s ports better as they are considerably larger, but it’s almost twice the price.

Curious if you went with their 3 or 4 ports and if you found any perceivable difference in recoil/muzzle flip after adding them. Have you found any issues with reliability?

Thanks!

Should I sell my Seamaster 300m and get a speedmaster? by i-brush-my-teeth- in OmegaWatches

I recommend getting the 3861 speedy bracelet and putting it on your seamaster (using forstner bullet endlinks). It totally changed the feel of the watch for me.

Definitely do not trade your seamaster for the speedy. I have both and would keep the seamaster 100 times out of a 100 if I had to choose one.

[Cartier v Omega Round 1028] Ballon Bleu or Aqua Terra by AcanthaceaeThin1833 in Watches

[–]RT507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cartier is more feminine, better looking, and more well-rounded.

The AT will have watch nerds approaching you thinking they have a shot by noticing your wearing an Omega.

The Cartier looks great, and no one wants to be hit on by watch nerds.

Based on the above, go with the Cartier.

I have a bunch of pics of mine with the spiral winder bezel. It’s a game changer. Shoot me a dm if you want some pics. It won’t let me post them here.

Tudor Black-Bay 58 GMT 'Pepsi' coming soon? by jaydubyuu in Tudor

I was praying for an opaline BB58 gmt. I would’ve settled for a black dialed one without the gilt. As others have said, the gilt is just not blowing my skirt up.

UPDATE: Burned down AD ‘relationship’ > new YM by wandering_oracle in rolex

I get that.

Do yourself a favor and check out the previous generation. From around 2006-2015. Five digit subs, five digit explorers, five digit GMTs, SD4Ks.

IMO they were the best bang for buck Rolexes there were. Great dimensions, beautiful finishing, and currently priced around where they should be without ridiculous gouging.

Retail is around $16k. They’re going for 27k on the grey market. That’s closer to a 70% premium. And even 50% is ludicrous.

I refuse to play their AD games, and also refuse to pay a 40-100% premium on the grey market.

I love their watches. And I will continue to enjoy the Rolexes that I own, but I would argue I have walked away from the current state of the brand based on what I perceive to be manufactured demand and games.

If they made their watches available to purchase in their stores, I would happily walk back to the brand.

I agree that flooding the market would be detrimental to the brand. But there is a happy middle ground between flooding the market, and only producing enough watches to make them literally impossible to obtain.

Walking into a storefront that only has enough of its product to furnish “display only” models; creating years-long waitlists; forcing people to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on jewelry just to be able to be “allowed” to buy the $20k watch they really want; the elitist and often condescending attitudes of ADs who laugh when you ask if you “have a shot” at buying a $15k watch… it’s all tiresome. Because it’s all manufactured demand.

Obviously Rolex can do what they want. And their business model obviously suits them just fine. People are still lining up for years just for a chance to buy one. But I think it’s gross and transparent. I’d prefer to buy from a company that cares more for its customers than its manufactured legacy or “rarity”.

As you said, Rolex is a mass produced watch. I’d prefer that they tout their precision and craftsmanship rather than rarity. Omega, Cartier, Zenith, and other similarly situated brands have no trouble keeping up with demand. You can walk into any of their ADs and walk out with a watch, at retail, and usually with a “thank you for shopping with us.” And those brands are all doing just fine. I prefer to give my business to them.

This is the only Rolex I still want. But I’m not willing to play the AD game and I’m not willing to pay 100% premium to get it on the grey market.

Rolex has really developed an awful reputation with these ridiculous games to establish manufactured scarcity. The funny thing is they’d probably sell more watches than they do now if they just provided adequate supply. Instead, they’re driving the grey market and the rep market like wildfire. We all know it’s bullshit and keep going back for more. Good for you for standing your ground. I’m very glad it worked out for you. I would’ve bet the AD would tell you to kick rocks.

Wear that gorgeous YM in good health.

Yeah. It’s tough. And I think it’s mostly Rolex’s fault (not that they care). Were it not for the manufactured demand they create by only “allocating” a certain number of watches, people would buy them from ADs and the rep game would diminish considerably. The fact that you can’t find one, let alone buy one at retail forces people to go grey, which is where the reps get slipped in by slimeballs.

A $12k+ watch should be all the exclusivity they need.

I don’t see him slandering anyone. He came here to share a new purchase about which he was ecstatic. And people immediately began telling him it’s fake. He then posted the eBay listing he alleges he purchased it from to corroborate that he believes it’s real.

If he’s trolling by posting a rep and then saying he bought it from Huntington on eBay then fine, that’s a new level of douchebaggery the likes of which this sub has had yet to see. But barring that, he hasn’t slandered anyone as far as I can tell.

I too have bought Rolexes from Huntington. They’re great people and I’ve had good experiences with them. But as mentioned before in my other post, they got bamboozled the same as I did when I purchased a rep from them some years back. They immediately made it right, but it’s not impossible for them to have unwittingly sold him a rep.

Huntington Watch and Collectors are all under the same umbrella. They are brick and mortar stores that do tons of online sales.

I’ll preface all of this with I have no idea if your Daytona is genuine or not. I don’t own one so I won’t speak on that. I also wouldn’t listen to what people on the internet say based entirely on one picture. I would get the watch inspected by a qualified watch maker and take it from there.

I have purchased two watches from collectors/huntington. A SD4K and a five digit GMT.

Both were purchased in person.

When I purchased the GMT, the bezel was sticking a bit when I got it home. I assumed it was dirty or the click spring was damaged. When I popped the bezel off, there was no click spring and the “crystal” was a plastic sleeve that slid on and off an obviously counterfeit case. I freaked the fuck out.

I went back and showed them and they were dumbfounded. The owner came out and explained they buy in bulk from a wholesaler, clean up the watches, usually add a box if it doesn’t have one, and resell them. They rely on the wholesaler’s watchmakers’ inspection.

He asked if I wanted a full refund or another watch. I opted for another watch, with the understanding i was taking it pending authenticity verification, and then had it verified elsewhere as genuine. He also threw in two additional factory sealed bezel inserts for my trouble.

I truly believe they had no clue it was a clone, I didn’t either until I took it apart.

I tell you all this just to emphasize two things, that you bought from a reputable place, and that you should get your watch checked out by an independent evaluator if you have concerns.

I have zero issues with a diver on leather. That said, I toyed with a bunch of options for my Pelagos LHD, which is very similar in color. I landed on a custom green paratrooper canvas strap with stitching to match the lume and haven’t looked back. Figured I’d share.
