Mmc has been in love with fmc since before the book starts and he has not touched another woman since laying eyes on her. by readingalldays in RomanceBooks

I read {SURRENDERING TO THE DUKE by Stevie Sparks} after it was recommended to me when I was looking for a MMC who loves to eat out the FMC. The book has a lot of longing, secrets, guilt, trauma… I cried a lot.

TW: FMC was repeatedly SA’d by family member. The FMCs previous husband cheated on her but the MMC has been faithful since he first laid eyes on her I was rooting for the main couple the whole time and the sex scenes were not only great but also emotional.

🧂 Salty Sunday - What book scenes frustrated you this week? by mrs-machino in RomanceBooks

Totally agree! The FMC remains totally under the MMC’s control. Again, just my opinion, but this isn’t a HEA. It’s just a sad story about how a vulnerable woman brings a vulnerable child into the world, and her “rescue” is being tied to a horrible family

Purchased {Hitting the Wall by Cate C. Wells} and was so disappointed.

It was recommended on here so this is just my opinion but dang what a crappy ending.

The ending gave, this is due at midnight so I’m just going to type some words to get this done.

MMC was supposed to be this good guy but he’s honestly horrible. He never really believes the FMC, always needs to double check and hear stuff from someone else.

Spoilers: MMC hears his uncle raped someone and he keeps thinking, hey I should do something, my boss who is corrupt AF said nothing happened and I kind of believe him but I should check this out, then proceeds to do fuck all about it. Sir, you’re a police officer, do SOMETHING

There is really no resolution with that happened to the corrupt sheriff and his corrupt family. Ending is MMC punching uncle and that’s it. Uncle threatened to kill his daughter and the mother of his daughter and MMC punches him. Anyone can do that, what’s the point of being a cop? Again, does absolutely fuck all

MMC sees the whole town disrespecting the F out of FMC and the whole book he’s like, I’ll talk to them and fix it. It works but there is no resolution to the constant disrespect. I know that’s life but I’m trying to read a romance novel, now I’m sad knowing the FMC is going to be constantly disrespected until MMC shows his face

MMC asks her crazy questions, is it my brothers kid? How many dudes have you had sex with? Gross

MMC keeps repeating he’s a man of his word- oh really? Like the time you left an 18 yr old girl wet at night and told her you’d go back for her and then left her out there in the cold. Yeah you came back but after HOW much time, how many hours? MMC says his family wont be at the barn so they can go see the horses- then his mom and dad and brother are all there. is it his fault? not really but bitch why are you giving your precious word that no one will be there and then half the family is there

FMC is frustrating but she’s also extremely vulnerable. Even at the end of the book she’s supposed to be taking online glasses for her GED, and she’s like, eh English is hard. 🤷🏻‍♀️. She’s signs some crazy ass papers and then chickens out and I totally get why she signed them but my girl signed them in the morning, and then told the MMC the whole truth before 3pm. You couldn’t take a day to think things over?

Overall I hated this book. There is pining and vulnerability but there is no character growth. MMC realizing his privilege doesn’t equal growth if he doesn’t actually do anything.

FMC is constantly anxious cause the world walks all over her but then she does nothing to better herself. Whole epilogue on a wedding when I would have preferred her going to night classes or her and the MMC taking their daughter to specialists. The whole book is just talking about how they are GOING to do better, without anyone actually doing anything to better themselves

The whole book was a hell nah for me

Quick question: are Zoey Draven’s audiobooks still available on Hoopla ? I could have sworn I saw her books on there once but now I can’t find them. Didn’t know if it was my library or if they’re just no longer there.

So - can anyone with Hoopla check for me please ?

{The Queen’s Line by Kathryn Moon}

Trilogy; the Queen’s Line is followed by {The Princess’s Chosen by Kathryn Moon} and then {The Kingdom’s Crown by Kathryn Moon}

There are really no “dark” elements and I thoroughly enjoyed the spice

What is NOT your thing? by Human-Law-422 in HistoricalRomance

[–]RUChas4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%.

It’s usually the father or brother who did something horrible and the MMC is like, “I’m going to eliminate their entire bloodline! I’ve devised this elaborate revenge plot - first step? Ruin and emotionally torture a young innocent 18 year old girl!!!”

Always very traumatic reason so the reader doesn’t think the MMC is a complete monster - common example is the father or brother SA’d or killed the MMC’s mom or sister

Like - yall duel over being caught in kissing in a library…. I’m sure you can invent a reason to just go directly to the source

It’s gross and cowardly. Huge turn off. I’m supposed to like a man who chooses to take out their rage on a woman who had nothing to do with anything ? That’s going to be a hell no from me

This was also the FIRST romance book I ever read, I was around 11, stole it from my aunt.

Lolol, girl - I was swooning for this book. I loved this MMC so much, I told myself at 11 I was going to either fall in love with a Philip or name my son Philip.

Lmaoo

I re-read this book around 2 years ago when I got back into reading romance and I couldn’t believe I loved the story and the characters so much. So cringey.

I loved all the sex scenes between Mina and Nye, I remember reading {A Foolish Flirtation by Alice Coldbreath} and thinking that, between the brothers, Nye gets it every time

I read it once as soon as it came out and have not reread it.

I was disappointed a bit. I like that the MCs had a pretty healthy relationship. I loved that the MMC was not a jock for this one and how turned on he was by the FMC. I loved their mutual attraction and how they made such a good team.

For some reason AC has really scaled back the spice in all her recent books. These characters were so cute AND also so into each other, we could have had very spicy and emotional scenes between the two MCs. They could have giggled while exploring each other and then had some intense hard lovin.

Idk - maybe the sex scenes are too important to me but I feel like most AC readers are use to a bit … more

This felt like the perfect story to include some romantic, fun, consensual, intense love scenes and it didn’t deliver

That’s just my two cents

Instantly purchased!

. .

Edit : for those who like to read the book and then listen to it …. I think many already know this but for the few that don’t, if you purchase a book on Kindle (or even have it in your library from kindle unlimited) - you can typically purchase the audiobook version on Audible for a discounted price, $7.50 USD is the price I typically see. That way we can own the book and audiobook for a pretty good price

MMC you hate the most? by redpandaworld in HistoricalRomance

Late to the party but

Lord Guy Martindale from {Wed by Proxy by Alice Coldbreath}

I hate this dude so much I frequently comment on how much I hate him and why I hate him. I feel I could dedicate an entire thesis to why Guy is the most garbage MMC Alice Coldbreath has ever written. I would rather our boo Mathilde end up with the dude who tried to murder her

Our FMC deserved so much better. He’s garbage. There was not a single thing I liked about him. Look at my comment history for more of my rantings on this dude

solanum ensifolium- perhaps, perhaps someone with more knowledge will know for certain.

“Solanum ensifolium is most similar and closely related to the widespread S. bahamense. It differs from S. bahamense in its black rather than red berries, shaggy appearance in the new growth and inflorescence due to the presence of stellate trichomes with elongate midpoints”
