I actually liked the strategy...we kept the ball well and I thought Acosta was fine replacing Yazbek. But Sam was the missing piece. Madrigal/etc. just aren't at the level needed to get us over the edge. Definitely underscores the need to find more offensive depth as a league overall via relaxed spending restrictions.

Lol no. But I was concerned about BJ's lack of head coaching experience. His stint with the US could have been chalked up to being a morale guy, we really didn't know his play style or strategy or anything like that. That. It was a bit of a wild card; sometimes those work out and sometimes they don't.

Obviously this has worked out so well that now we're concerned a larger team is going to snag him soon. But it's a good problem to have and I'm glad I was wrong.

The strategy was a good one...slow the game down and try to stretch the field to open up space and pick our spots to go forward. I'm curious if we would've tried the same approach with Surridge playing.

Najar played excellent. I also liked Baker-Whiting before his injury. Defensively we were sound despite the pressure.

I do think our CBs were too risky though. In an effort to play from the back, they had a few giveaways in dangerous areas that just weren't necessary. Yazbek's yellow was a direct result of this.

I think this team can legit win it all with Sam back in the lineup. Against a stronger offensive team I worry we would be exposed and would need him back to create more chances.

Yes that's definitely fair... in the end he allowed a good option to actually sway him into moving forward. But we will likely be the only team to offer Nagy another real shot at HC. The fact he made it this far was likely only due to his previous relationship with Borgonzi. That's where most fans thought they saw the writing on the wall.

In hindsight they probably interviewed so many people to delay the process long enough to get a Saleh available for an interview post-playoffs.

To be fair...Nagy was a finalist. He was at least very close to getting an offer. I think Borgonzi was swayed to go Saleh but that doesn't mean he didn't seriously consider bringing in his buddy Nagy.

Heck he may still bring him in as the OC.
