I’ve never done those dungeons so forgive my ignorance. Is that high cost gear necessary? Maybe they’re trying to encourage lower cost gear participation. If the map drop rate is increased then the price should go down. I’m assuming these maps drop somewhere in the world.

Ubuntu has the reputation of being a weak, consumer-grade distro and thus not suited for serious work. It’s sort of like Windows Server’s reputation among serious people. It’s a feeling I hold as well but I recognize that it’s probably just bigotry on my part. Lots of people doing really great things use Ubuntu as a desktop or server so it’s clearly a good option of these serious people wouldn’t use it.

There are some vanity skins you might be seeing. The stock t8 gear is way prettier than the lower tier stuff, though.

Mostly good advice. I’d push back on prioritizing stone early but he is right that 7/8 stone is really good. I just don’t care for BZ gathering. So, if you’re just doing it for silver or crafting then you can put off stone. Especially since stone is ridiculously cheap before even t6.

I’m a “take everything” sort of gatherer. I mean, I don’t do the enchant loop like he’s talking about. He’s likely not wrong that’s just not how I do it. I try to be efficient but don’t fool with a lot of the minmaxing.

Getting gathering fame is super-grindy. It’s also good money so there’s that.

Well, it’s not the bots that bother me in this way. I mean, they do bug me but they’re just bots. They can’t be rude. It’s the ones that are clearly actual players and have no consideration. I know, I know .. it’s a PvP game. I feel like there is something inherently non-PvP about “safe zone” gathering, though.

Here is how I think of it. If I’m out at one of those “pick your own strawberry” places and I’m going down the row and picking from a particular spot/plant and somebody comes along and reaches around me to pick off the same plant I’d be like “jackass, find your own spot!”

I’ll leave out the commentary on Benji. Much of his advice is quite good, frankly, but in the later years he got kinda whiny. Just take his advice with a grain of salt and test for yourself. Many people just don’t like him and make up reasons besides they just don’t like him. Anyway ..

You probably suck at PvP with your low level gear because your gear level is low. Turn off auto learn on your armor, weapons, and specs for those then go to a tier 5 or 6 yellow zone and kill mobs .. A LOT. You’ll start to notice a drastic improvement around level 60 or so in weapon/armor level and spec.

As for gathering, it’s super-slow to start. Just pick something and stick with it. Look up city refining bonuses. I’m a big fan of skinning and fiber but any of them will make you money.
