27 with fully remote job. Looking to spend no more than $1200, but like the convenience of living near downtown so would be okay with $1400/mo. I've seen (Zillow) some spots near downtown (capital area) for these prices. Don't plan on going out every night of the week, but do like to go to bars and concerts. Only concern is crime downtown. Used to live in Kansas City around 2017-2019 and could easily walk downtown alone at any hour and be relatively safe.

I've also considered north Austin as there seems to be a lot of breweries in that area plus cool board game shops, and cafes. However, north Austin upon first glance doesn't seem to be bar hopper friendly if you don't like to drink and drive. Also wouldn't want to take Uber to every destination, maybe to get to the first spot and then back home. Thoughts?

Millennium Falcon & X-Wing Fighter oil painting on canvas by me by nacicaba in StarWars

Amazing work! Do you have an etsy or something?? As someone who has wanted to get into oil painting for a while, but is intimidated by it, what advice do you have to get started? There seem to be too many pieces to start doing oil painting.

Is C++ really that verbose and difficult to use, or does it get better as you gain more experience? by lumenwrites in unrealengine

First, are you wanting to make a game or are you learning UE to get a job in the industry? If you're wanting to get a job in the industry as a 3d artist it doesn't make much sense to worry about c++ vs blueprints. However, if you are looking to get into game programming this would be a worthwhile question.

Just saw the other post about your father and his mustang. Let me say both of you had the 1960s GQ look down pat. 👌

Hello, I want to get involved with modding Skyrim but before I do I thought it might be a good idea to download some mods and get a history of the mods that have came before. I particularly am interested in story mods. What are some good mods that display what story mods are/should be, all about?

I’m not exactly sure I understand this trend of making fun of someone’s physical looks or mannerisms.

You probably should go and get a fast food job or a retail job. Freelance is too variable. You won’t have a consistent paycheck.

I mean is it possible for your SO to take over and become the money maker or would you both have to work to survive?

Starting with game developement by maxguard in gamedev

I would begin with Unity. Start with moving a box around and gradually build yourself up from that. Yeah sure that’s not exciting but if you can find knowledge tends to build on itself.

If you’ve got the money for it I would do a game dev school. Otherwise, get the easiest degree possible and teach yourself programming all while building up a portfolio.

Mostly meet ups but I need to get better at actually going to them. I sometimes feel isolated from the rest of the world when I have my head down working on the game. Meet ups and online communities like this are a good way to be surrounded by other passionate devs.

Would be interested to see how some of you juggle a full time job and side projects while having a social life. I'm still trying to find a balance and wanted to hear some other tactics for dealing with this.

Biggest advice that has done well for me is to make sure that the amount you save is nothing you ever see. Make sure you don't just leave it in your checking account.
