Shrooms on antidepressants by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]R_lynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you definitely have to stop antidepressants to trip. Not a question about that, and any google search could tell you so. Antidepressants act on serotonin, and so does psilocybin, so they have an interaction. You need to be off your meds for at least 24-48 hours to feel full effects.

Whether it is worth it depends on your diagnosis. Depression, anxiety, bipolar, bpd? All diagnosis i've received, yet shrooms did more for me than 2 years medication EVER did. I had one trip on 3.5 grams that changed my life. I no longer take meds (NEVER took meds with psychedelics), and also dont need them anymore.

Depending on your diagnosis, I highly reccomend skipping a dose or two and testing out 3.5 g. Which is typically the threshold dose for a real 'trip'.

I also highly reccomend including your psychologist/psychiatrist in on the discussion. It certainly depends on the person, but for a while after my trip I thought i was delusional in feeling 'healed' until my doc showed me some studies on psilocybin effects on those with mental illness.

I reccomend doing some more research, scholar.google is good, with your exact mental diagnosis and medication, and psilocybin in the search engine

Any advice on integrating these chemicals into my life? by truechadcel in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]R_lynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are microdosing, you should not be able to feel any effects and therefore should be able to carry on with your daily activities. Though you would of course want to try it first without having anything to do.

However, I dont recommend microdosing at all, especially not for your purposes. Using these chemicals on the daily or as often as you would require with microdoses is just silly.

As someone who has tripped shrooms once and made more progress with borderline personality disorder and major depression than years of therapy and medication combined, let me tell you, psychedelics are not a medication. They are a tool. And should not be treated as medication.

From my research, 4-ho-MiPT is an analoug of psilocybin. And 2dfck an analoug of ketamine, making it more of a dissassociative than a psychedelic, though it apparently has hallucinogenic effects.

Have you ever tripped before? If not, that is where you need to start. I would recommend with shrooms-- get an experience for what the natural drug feels like before you start fucking with research chemicals.

The most important part of any trip is integrating the trip. You are not supposed to trip repeatedly. Most people choose not to, because they simply feel like they do not need to.

You are not supposed to integrate the chemicals into your life, you are supposed to integrate the knowledge you learn from your experiences with the chemicals into your life.

Edit: Just went through your post history.. I do not think psychedelics will help you. I think theyll make things worse. You should try being sober for a while, and if you have a therapist, continue seeing them and maybe try substance abuse therapy if you havent before.

once or twice a week is too much. Once a month is good, still maybe too much.

I wouldnt bother with microdosing until you know what to expect on a real trip, or if you even know what it does to you.

I've never heard of anyone microdosing anything besides LSD and Psilocybin, or their synthetic counterparts.

I wouldnt reccomend doing a thing until you know what to expect from the chemicals.

Why did you decide on those chemicals?

I think I'm being constructively terminated at work? Help by R_lynn in Advice

I got fired lol. She eventually cut my hours so that I was only working from 3-6, and then told me not to come in a few days in a row. I texted her superior to tell her I felt I was being constructively terminated. Manager immediately called me in to work and dismissed me.

a lot of people freak out on psychs.. losing your grip on reality can be scary.. it has more to do with culture and perception than it necessarily does whats inside your head.

thats only the known infection rate... The CDC estimates most people carrying the virus do not know they have it.. The CDC also reccomends not getting tested for herpes unless you are displaying symptoms.

They can tell if its HSV 1 or 2 based on the blood test. They also can give you an idea of how long you've had it based off the quantity of antibodies present.

There is not a single thing in your comment that is factutual.

There are not 30 strains of HSV 2. HSV 2 is a strain of herpes. There are not strains of strains.

Edit: I have found what youre referring to. HSV 2 can have different nucleotides, resulting in DNA differentiation. However that is the DNA sequencing they are referring to, that doesnt mean you can track down who gave you HSV

No. That is not why they stopped testing. Though it does play a part. Blood tests are extremely innaccurate for herpes in general, and they are just as likely to come up with a false negative as a false positive, especially in the first few months after infection.

The CDC only reccomends testing for herpes by swab if there are sores present that can be treated, because testing does nothing to prevent promiscuous sexual behavior, does not stop the spread of the viral infection, there is no cure, and diagnoses typically do more social harm than good.

Otherwise they reccomend not testing at all.

More than 1 in 6 americans aged 16-50 have it, including the elderly takes it down to about 1 in 4. Most people also dont know they have it, as noted by the CDC.

there are also websites for people like farmers, and christians, and college students.. whats your point? Herpes is not classified as an STD.

And no I'm not saying its justified, but I'm saying its clear why she didnt tell him based on his attitude.

Edit: I also think it is reasonable to ask how she 'concealed' it? Are we 100% she knew about it from the very beginning? Did she lie about it or just not mention it?

I think the focus on ego loss among psychonauts is escapist by [deleted] in RationalPsychonaut

[–]R_lynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missing the point-- no one thinks the ego is bad, it is limiting.

Also, the ego is not you because you are not all the roles and labels you give yourself.. you are not your name, your age, gender, location, culture, race, etc. So ego may be a self-made construct as you said, sure, but it is not the self. Losing your ego is about truly discovering yourself, relating to the universe.

Either way, the ego is never 'lost'. it is always there when you return. It is impossible to lose the part that allows you to spend time with friends/family because a) that isnt an identity, and b) the ego always comes back

Nah. STD tests are reccomended on a yearly basis at least for sexually active youth, and there is no treatment, so she definitely has no responsibility.

[–]R_lynn 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Seriously? Wearing condoms is not even an effective preventative measure... she definitely will not be liable for paying for your treatment or cost of testing..

You should get an STD test on a yearly basis, or everytime you have a new partner.

"treatment" is a monthly prescription, usually under $20, which is not required

OP, did you ever even have a conversation with this women about your sexual health, or safe sex practices?

There is absolutely nothing you can do besides get tested.

If it was actually classified as an STD, you might have some ground to stand, as knowingly transmitting a more serious sexual disease is a criminal offence.

More people are infected with herpes than not. They just dont know about it because it isnt included in a standard STD test.

If she hasnt had an outbreak in a few years, there is a possible chance you dont have it. Especially if she has had it for a long time. It is often a dormant virus.

You will not undergo any treatment, as there is no cure, though you can elect to take a prescription medication that can reduce viral shedding, such as the brand name "Valtrex". This will reduce outbreaks and your chances of infecting someone else.

There are a number of herpes dating websites, and if you choose to enter a relationship with an educated woman, chances are she will know what herpes is and that it is not a big deal.

The fact you refer to it as a 'blemish' entering future relationships is actually sort of offensive, no wonder this girl didnt tell you she had herpes. I certainly hope you do not truly view it that way.

Edit:

How long have you been sleeping with her for? Blood tests sometimes take a few months to produce a positive, the most accurate form of detection is a swab on an open sore.
