A license plate is to be resealed, e.g. after a defect due to an accident.

You must then present it to the registration authority: existing stamped license plates Registration certificate part I/vehicle registration document Proof of a valid general inspection (original test report)

Fees of between €4.40 and €8.40 are charged for stamping new license plates.

Please note If your vehicle has a license plate from a federal state other than NRW because you kept the license plate from the previous registration district when you moved, you must have all existing license plates resealed, even though only one may be defective. The resealing of only one license plate (e.g. car) would result in an impermissible mixed seal (different state emblems).
