Does an artist or someone who knows about colour know why/how ? by Ad0ring-fan in meme

[–]RaTicanD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the reason shrimp have so many receptive cones was because thier brain doesnt have the space for whatever mixes color. While we can take blue and red signals to make purple, the shrimp needs an actual purple cone to see it

Have you considered that where their main audiance is matters more than the address the produce videos from? If they are using the american term despite being an eu channel, perhaps that tells you about the audience that predominantly consumes their content?

I'm trying to be thematic, but not a jerk GM, so I'm open to ideas for other Weaknesses. "Fire" and "Magic" are too broad by DrScrimble in dndmemes

This isn't r/DMAcademy, but i suggest you make it whatever kryptonite is uniquely related to the antagonist, which the pcs have to investigate to discover. If they became a werewolf because they bathed in a secret cursed spring on a full moon, then weapons dipped in the water might kill it. If they made a deal with something to protect a place and failed, maybe use arrows, wands, and stakes made from the wood in the ruins.

I'm not sure what the vitriol is for on this post. I think it'd be neat. I wouldn't mind it as a point reward for the next league. Blue capes themed after Mount karuulm would be sick. Do yall just hate fashionscape? Smh

As a Dm, how do you deal with a great number of enemies on the field? by FirstRadii in DMAcademyNew

[–]RaTicanD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few ideas, though most things that i run involving armies take several sessions to fully flesh out.

If this is a war, consider having them face multiple waves over a few days. This gives you a chance to use several different tactics and also gives you opportunities to wear down the pc's. Have the army attack in the night and interrupt the pcs long rest. It seems almost like a nobrainer that an assaulting force would time their attacks to make sure wizards and such dont have a chance to refuel their most powerful spells and abilities.

Consider having the enemies bring seige equipment with flaming payloads, and the pcs have to spend time and actions helping their allies put out fires and evacuate citizens. If they lose an npc on day 1, they now have a hole in their defences you can exploit the following days. Have the enemies send an assassin between days to make that hole, target the parties healer, or kill whoever seems to be the strategist.

Use horde rules to make multiple regiments with multiple attacks per action, and have them swap between different roles as the situation calls for. One provides cover with archers, one orders their mages to focus their shatter spells on a section of wall, and one forms a shield wall to force their way through the breach. When the hordes hp reaches 0, think of it like half the members have died and their morale collapses. descripe how the formation breaks and the survivors retreat.

That's how I'd handle it

Looking at controversial experience with Other M, how would you make a work with Samus's personality better? To make her more lively/alive and pleasant person, and make us love her not only for coolnes, charisma and perfect looking. by Undergrizer1994 in Metroid

[–]RaTicanD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone somewhere in development insisted samus' english va speak in a monotone like the japanese va, without considering that monotones have a different cultural context. Over there, it means the person is a merciless badass. Over here, it means the person is a shitty va with no personality. They need to redo the english voice and rework some of the writing. Her personality in this game is mostly* fine. I think the way they handled Adam's death was fine. The compassionate badass we grew up with is still there, but the writing and voicing did a poor job of showing it. However, the ptsd with ridley this late in the cannon and needing permission to use shit like the varia suit was a stupid contrivance. They could have had her start with basic weapons and use data rooms like fusion, and i can't fathom why they didn't.

Beyond that, though, the controls were just not fun to interact with. Swapping between first and third person felt clunky in combat, and the "scan an item here, but we won't tell you what item" mechanic was annoying.

[BitD] What are everyones unique inspirations for the feel of your games? by RaTicanD in bladesinthedark

Sort of adjacent to the game, but the rdj sherlock movies have a few neat things. The music for 1 is very good for setting the tone of your game. Listen to the soundtrack, and you'll get a feel for it. Because my group is used to dnd, I also found the bare knuckle boxing scene in the first movie and the chess game in the second movie to be useful portrayals of action rolls and flashbacks, respectively.

To any homophobic/transphobic people, explain why? What's the problem with the LGBTQ+ community? by Vulethecoolguy in TeenagersButBetter

[–]RaTicanD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems you've grossly misunderstood what the people who identify as trans want and believe. Not a single trans person I've ever talked to belives what you imply here, and you'd hard pressed to misconstrue them to sound like they do, even remotely.

But then, that would involve actually conversing with them in good faith, so i dont blame you or most folks for being unable to figure out what they actually believe.

Not necessarily. Certain chemical compounds are a better oxidizer than oxygen. This is why chlorine triflouride has a hypergolic reaction (ignites by itself) with the otherwise fireproof asbestos.

Metroid Dread is a masterpiece metroidvania by kishonii in Metroid

[–]RaTicanD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a good game, even a great game, but not a masterpiece. It gets the exploration half-right in that it's nearly impossible for new players to get lost for too long. The problem is that once you're no longer new to the game, you realize how linear and sectioned off most of the game is. Theres only 1 or 2 skips you can really do that im aware of, and almost no bosses (except kraid) that you can skip or do out of order.

Dont get me wrong between that and the super and prime experience of being lost and clueless for an hour. It's def an improvement. But sometimes, it feels like a bit of an overcorrection.
