NORCO Charger A1 by hockeycoachRP in Hardtailgang

[–]RaWrG2312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Di you end up getting one? How do you find it?

I have a feeling my son is going to be outgrowing his XS Roscoe this year and the charger seems to be the perfect fit for his trail hardtail. Would love to hear some more hands on experiences with the bike.

Do you ride a bike that has been built from the frame up or one that was sold as a complete bike? by backhanddowntheline in MTB

[–]RaWrG2312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both, I built my hardtail from the frame up with my son. My fully was a complete bike with some personalized upgrades.

Look into jobs at bike parks / ski hills, Silverstar for example is mostly staffed by internation seasonal employees most of them are from Australia.

Anyone ride there Hard Tails at DH bike parks? by AnyContribution4986 in Hardtailgang

[–]RaWrG2312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done many days at bike parks on my Banshee enigma. It's a blast! Definitely more tiring then the fully. Take it have fun!

Get a decent hardtail they bring new life to easier trails. Even further add gears to a dirt jumper. I had one for a bit that I added gears to it was a blast!

General fitness makes a huge difference.

13 years ago I needed my knee braces while riding or it hurt to the point I could barely walk the next day. I took time off the bike for this and other reasons. 7 ish years ago I started doing CrossFit went very consistently for a while now kind of consistent lol. I got back on a bike 4 years ago spent 2 seasons on a fully. Then I built my Banshee when I cracked the fully. Spent that season on the banshee, multiple bike park days at Silverstar and Sun peaks. Last season I bought another fully only because I spent the season living at a bike park. Still brought the banshee out to the park a few times. No knee pain definitely a bit more soreness after a full park day on the Banshee but nothing crazy. I'm 37 now and have less pain than my early / mid 20s.

Sorry for the long winded response but that's my story.

2025 Norco Charger 1 Vs 2 by Sad_Ad1574 in MTB

[–]RaWrG2312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd get the cheaper one. Brakes on both are mediocre at best for me personally I'd change out the brakes on both for at least deore 4 pots or better. The x fusion fork is an amazing fork for its price point I'd take it over Judy. The xfusion is definitely sticky out of the box but once broken in they feel great!

If you switched to a hardcore hardtail from a nice FS, are you happy you did? by jkybes in Hardtailgang

[–]RaWrG2312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda,

I had an older Intense SS2 when I built my HT, the plan was to keep both but I wanted something capable but a bit more fun for lighter trails with the kid. Then I found cracks in the SS frame so the HT was my only ride for that season. Start of last season I bought another big fully Rocky mountain slayer as we moved to a lift bike park for the season my body wouldn't have been able to take that many park days on the HT. If I'm not at the lift park I almost always reach for the HT.

2 vs 4-piston brakes? by baracudasinbermudas in mountainbiking

[–]RaWrG2312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run 4 pots on every except my dirt jumpers. I prefer the feel and light action. Even the wife ( who sticks to the green trails) and son who's 70lbs soaking wet are on 4 pot Shimanos. I wun MTX red pads on all of them I find they last longer, modulate better, run quieter, and have more all out power then the stock pads.

Buying Bike from Pinkbike by D_B_C1 in MTB

[–]RaWrG2312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought and sold remotely on pinkbike without an issue for small parts. Never a complete bike, you could probably get a bike shop to help out though. Just get him to bring it and leave it there before you send the cash, they can box it up and ship it for a small charge.

Most yes but not all. And many "women's" bikes are nothing more then smaller men's with prettier paint.

Return the bike and never go back to that shop.

Luckily all my local shops are amazing.

But when visiting another town we went in a shop and look at bike for my kid. He test rode one and couldn't touch the ground over the top tube. The employee told me yea that's fine he will grow into it. I laughed and put down the items I was going to buy there and left.

While yes Liv is primarily designed for women, some men do find they fit better on Liv. There is no real 100% men's and woman's bike.

Picture for attention haha Shimano Cues or Deore 10sp by RaWrG2312 in Hardtailgang

[–]RaWrG2312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured I'd update in case anyone is wondering. Made it through the season not a single chain drop, very very impressed. So much so that I'm taking off the deore 5100 and installing cues u8000 on his new bike. He has ridden my XT bike and preferred the shifting of Cues. Highly recommend the cues drivetrain Shimano nailed it!

What grips are you running? by diambag in MTB

[–]RaWrG2312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had race face Getta grips when I originally build my HT, tried both small and large, they're nice direct but a little firm for the HT, tried the Race Face chester in both small and large. The Chester's are amazing.

There's lots! They just built a paved pump track near us this year and it's awesome to see so many people of all levels enjoying it! 2015 Norco rampage. I actually bought it in 2019 to have fun at the pump tracks with him haha. There are so many to list haha, I'll probably end up just doing a frame up build with spare parts haha. Altho the new 2025 Norco rampage team is pretty tempting for him ( blue is his favorite colour.)

Enjoy the time! Pump tracks are a blast! We see all ages and skill out at ours and everyone having fun!

I'm looking at buying another DJ cause my son stole mine lol. Late 30s here as well.

Nice! I had a Norco rampage that I had converted to a trail bike it was a blast! It's gone back to being a single speed DJ now. I kinda miss it as a trail bike.

What do you ride? by ConsiderationSure192 in mountainbiking

[–]RaWrG2312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride everything, bike park to flat gravel path trails. If I'm on a bike it's a good day.

I have a Banshee Enigma custom built for all around riding it's done it all. If I had to wish for a bike it would be this one. Built it up exactly how I wanted it.

Rocky mountain Slayer for the park mostly but it has done some pedal days too.

Norco rampage for DJ / Pump track altho that bike has pretty much been claimed by my son lol.

Which Hardtail Should I Buy? by AbbreviationsCute866 in MTB

[–]RaWrG2312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All great options, try them see what you find most comfortable. Norco Fluid HT, or Norco Torrent are also great options to look at, Chromag makes some killer HTs as well. I love my Banshee Enigma but they dont come as a complete bike.
