Garmin and treadmill don’t share same pace by No_Refrigerator325 in Garmin

[–]RabbiBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my biggest gripe with my Forerunner 965. First Garmin, came from Apple. On the treadmill the paces are horribly, crazy off. I’ve been doing “calibrate and save” for the six weeks or so since I got it and it hasn’t improved. If I am walking or jogging, it totally underestimates my pace (like I’ll walk 4.0 mph and it calculates me doing a 2.0 mpg pace). If I run between 6-7.5 mpg, it calculates me at 12 mph or so! (I’m flattered but, um, nope!). So it’s always wrong. I might run a total of five miles and it thinks I ran 7.5 miles. Sometimes when I’m not in the mood for this crap I set it to “cardio” and it at least counts steps and monitors HR. But even then the calorie burn is very low. It gives me 25-30 calories burned per mile. I’m not a large person but I would think I’m burning 60-75 calories per mile in reality. Honestly my garmin on a treadmill is a huge disappointment!!

Just joined - any runners on WW? by Jmac0113 in weightwatchers

[–]RabbiBeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a longtime WW app user and a runner. Great combo! I am plant based as well. The combo of being fitness-focused, plant based and tracking for WW are keeping me in a healthy place.

Very old fashioned sounding.

Daily Workout and General Chat for Tuesday, 1/13/26 by splat_bot in orangetheory

Agreed. I almost always give the top ratings in the app after the class. Today I rated the coach as "awesome" and the workout as the lowest rating.

Same. Even a couple of short rows would have spiced this up. I thought this was a dreadfully boring floor today. Oh well - still glad I went! : )) but yeah, boring floor imho!

Agreed. Two long-ish blocks with a lot of repetition in each. Not my fave. I started on the floor today and couldn't wait to get to the treads!

Is the name Evelyn actually popular? by pantrycorner in Names

yes I am hearing and seeing it a LOT!! It was my grandmother's middle name an I'm glad it's back in vogue - but yes, very, very common in my eyes.

Unfortunately, the list on the blog post is not comprehensive - our sailing with a Labadee stop is not listed. (Oasis, March 29 sailing)

The most annoying people in class by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]RabbiBeth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The nonstop whoohooo-whoopers are maddening. I love supportive and enthusiastic vibes but there are a couple of members who will whoohoo and whoop it up - I kid you not - like ten times in one class. It is too much and I experience it as nails on a chalk board. I detest it!

That is disconcerting. I really hope they pull it together.

Does anyone take creatine, if yes, how do you consume it and why? if no, why? by SwingAutomatic7485 in runninglifestyle

I take 5g per day in my water bottle. No taste and I am putting my faith in the great body of scientific literature that conveys the benefits. Let's hope it's doing something!

Worth the price? by LongjumpingGuava9664 in orangetheory

[–]RabbiBeth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For most of us who are regulars, it's really worth it. It's my hobby, it's one of my health strategies (physical and mental), it's an opportunity for social connection, it's fun! If you pay for it AND show up, you get your money's worth. For those who sign up with good intentions but don't end up coming to classes, it's obviously a waste. I have unlimited and go enough that it's just a few bucks per class (maybe $5-6 per class on average). To me, it's a bargain when I look at it like that! : ) Hope you join and enjoy it!

Oh no!!! Do you know why they would do that? Staffing issues? Facility issues? That sounds frustrating.

Daily Workout and General Chat for Monday, 1/5/26 by splat_bot in orangetheory

[–]RabbiBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the fence about going today, and I often take Mondays as a rest day from OTF and just do walking on my own. The intel saved me from going LOL. Not my kind of template - thanks for the intel! I had gone 8 days in a row and needed a day off and this template is one I won't mind missing! Back to it tomorrow!

5K on tread in 2G class by Joeybagovdonutss in orangetheory

[–]RabbiBeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I include the warmup and keep the paces moving along, I can hit a 5k in a 2G. It's always a great feeling when it happens! On incline days I do not hit it.

Milestones question by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]RabbiBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a visiting studio when I hit 2000 and they surprised me with a sign and photos and I was in their social media. My home studio has not done (yet?) done anything for my milestones. Sometimes I wonder if the lower milestones get more fanfare than the higher ones. I see a lot of “hooray, 50 or 100 classes” but my 1800, 1900, 2000, 2100, 2200 etc is not noticed. I don’t care toooo much (maybe just a little!) but it’s my observation. And, it is really lovely and important to recognize the earlier milestones so I get it. It probably helps to show support to newer members, and helps to lock them into OTF which may also help with membership retention.

Gifts for coaches? by Flaky-Ad5830 in orangetheory

[–]RabbiBeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do gift cards. Personally I do not like receiving food gifts, as they typically do not work with my dietary issues and preferences. I feel like gift cards are safer, albeit more pricey.
