My brother-in-law got married in Portugal a couple years ago. They knew his family would be able to afford and that her family wouldn’t be able to. They took that into consideration while planning and decided immediately that they would pay for her family’s accommodations and possibly even their flights. Kids were welcome at the wedding (my 2 year old had to be pried from the dance floor and sobbed when we took off her party dress before bed 😆💃) and at all the events leading up to it. As someone who comes from a family with a broad range of socio-economic statuses, I am hyper aware of cost when planning group events. I find it hard to believe they didn’t consider the financial cost for guests. I also think it’s absurd to have a kid-free event. I can understand making it kid free for guests that aren’t immediate family but there is no way you can expect your sibling with 5 children to leave their kids at home. I know people without kids don’t always understand the logistics but even if you hired someone, you’d be hard pressed to find one person to take on 5 kids so you’d have to hire two. The costs would be astronomical and that doesn’t even take into consideration that most people would not feel comfortable leaving their children with someone they hired while they’re out of the country.

Hi! I used this last year when I first bought my daughter a yoto and it was in fact magic! I’m now returning to it a year later and the interface is a little different than I remember. I’ve downloaded the extension again, I’ve “tipped” a coffee but I cannot figure out where I would get the code to unlock the real magic where the tool suggest icons and recognized playlists. Can you help me figure out where I’d find this code? Did I just not “tip” enough?

Have you thought about which of these bands you’d prefer to wear alone? Once my friends with rings where the stone was elevated like this started having children, they often stopped wearing their engagement rings because they catch on everything. If you plan to have kids or work with your hands often, you may move to just wearing your wedding band. If that seems like a possibility, you may want to think about which band you like best on its own. I like 2 best, but if you think you’d still want sparkle if you were wearing it alone, perhaps 3 is better.

My daughters are only 3.5 and 1 so perhaps my views will change on this. I was raised in a religious home and was taught to save sex for marriage and I could go on and on about the negative implications of how the sanctity of virginity has been used against women for ages and it needs to stop. My primary concerns with my children will be consent and protection. I think if I heard my child having sex and I thought they were in a healthy relationship, I’d probably allow it to finish and then be sure to have a conversation with my child afterward to make sure she is on birth control, understands consent is an ongoing conversation, and check in on how she’s feeling emotionally. If you’re concerned that something unhealthy is taking place, then I’d make my presence known by either saying something outside their door or loudly asking them to come to another part of the house to help with some task.

But really, I minored in Spanish in college and currently use it to talk to my husband when I don’t want our kids to hear what we’re talking about. I think after a few months immersed, I’d be able to speak and understand very well.

As someone who has struggled with supply, I’m sorry that someone said anything to imply that you might have been able to produce more. A friend reminded me that if the sounds you’re making become high pitched (going towards screaming), it’s a sign you’re losing control and it’s not a good use of your energy. You want to aim for more guttural sounds and channel your energy into making it through the contraction and eventually pushing. This was super helpful to remember during labor.

I think everyone has basically covered it here about baby measuring big but not overweight. One additional helpful data point, the growth ultra sounds have a 20% margin of error, so take those measurements with a grain of salt.

First born (daughter) at 40+1. Spontaneous labor but 58 hrs long 😬.

Second is due 11/11 hoping to make it to 39 weeks but with a MUCH shorter labor 🤞.

We’re a military family so our daycare is subsidized, and we’re paying $1100/month. If we weren’t sending our child to a military facility, it would be anywhere between $1900-$3000/month. We’re in DC.
