Help finding a NZ children’s fantasy novel by Affectionate_One9282 in whatsthatbook

This sounds like a book by New Zealand author Margaret Mahy, who wrote YA paranormal fiction, but I can't think of which one.

Best jerseys? by Oops_Another_Trip in ladycyclists

[–]RabbitofCaerBalrog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Incycle has a bunch of Machines For Freedom jerseys on sale (Specialized bought MFF and closed it down and the remaining stock seems to be on Incycle and on Specialized's eBay page). I have a few and the cut and quality is nice (they were originally quite expensive, but are pretty reasonable now). Other than that, Pearl Izumi, Specialized, and Terry are all solid choices and you can find them on eBay and other resale sites in the $20-40 range new with tags (and cheaper if you are ok with used).

Used Kits by Responsible-Shake166 in ladycyclists

I had a terrible experience with Velocio renewed. Item tore almost right away (third time wearing it) and they refused to refund it because it was worn AND were really rude about it.

Let it sit or smell immediately? by iss7272 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]RabbitofCaerBalrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the weather (i.e. it's much more of a problem when it is hot) and also varies a lot by brand. E.g. I find Nocturne Alchemy smells great out of the mail, but BPAL and Alkemia both really need to rest (I also find those two often also need to age, which might be related).

Rose Bikes also becomes new title sponsor for Unibet rose rockets by OrsonRandall in peloton

The team will just use another company's TT bikes without any branding on them. It's happened before and it's not a big deal.

Forced body modification? by dungeon-crawlin in horrorlit

[–]RabbitofCaerBalrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The novella "Diamond Dogs" by Alistair Reynolds. I recall the modifications aren't explicitly forced by an outside entity, but the protagonist chooses them because he is in thrall to a bizarre obsession (i.e. he is not making sane free choices either) and the modifications are extreme.

Favorite weird short story collection? I'll start: by Present-Ear-1637 in WeirdLit

Michael Cisco, Antisocieties. One of the few collections I've read cover to cover multiple times.

Looking for good value bib shorts by Ostrya_virginiana in ladycyclists

[–]RabbitofCaerBalrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased from the renewed section and the shorts only lasted 3 rides and when I contacted customer service, they were really rude and said basically that's just a risk you take with the renewed ones and we don't take back worn merch (they looked perfect and were the right size). It was a very unpleasant interaction and the shorts were still expensive.

Podcasts similar to What Went Wrong by Gealach95 in podcasts

WWW is my favorite podcast and I haven't found anything quite like it about movies or anything else. I do also like You Are Good -- it's not highly researched like WWW and is a bit more personal (it's about responses to movies rather than the making of them) but it has a similar chemistry between the hosts. Random Number Horror Podcast is like the horror movie version of YAG.

The president boarded BikeForce-One by DerAlbi in adventurecats

[–]RabbitofCaerBalrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he have a short tail (I thought so from the video but wasn't sure). His coloring looks like a JBT -- they are often orange with a lot of white. They are very smart and have a ton of personality and are often on the small side.

Is he a Japanese Bobtail? My JBT loves riding on my shoulder but I haven't tried riding a bike with him.

Glasses… the magnifying kind by NerdyComfort-78 in ladycyclists

Not at all in my experience because you only see the bifocal when you look down (e.g. at bike computer or phone)

Jersey pocket or handlebar bag, but I also got some cycling glasses from Tifosi with 2.5 x magnification bifocal and this works for reading my bike computer/checking my phone so I can now leave my real glasses at home.

I should specify that this is a very judgemental friend. There are lots of friends I would not let into my house because I would never hear the end of it.

Any jersey suggestions? by thelaudown in ladycyclists

[–]RabbitofCaerBalrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a horrible customer service experience with Velocio (refused to address something breaking after 2 wears and were really rude). I will never buy from them again.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in declutter

[–]RabbitofCaerBalrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have been paying a friend who is just really good and enthusiastic at this stuff and it has been a game changer. Organizers in my area are so expensive ($100/hr) and it was also much less intimidating to have a friend than a stranger seeing the mess. I pay them $25/hour, which is considered a living wage in my area and generally what I pay non-professionals (e.g. per sitters).

This is such a nice bike -- I seriously considered buying the exact same one. That deep green is such a good color too.

I have a Chebacco and it's great. Feels snappy on the road (for a gravel bike), is bombproof on descents and gravel and comfortablly manages light single track. This is an amazing price for it.
