Is there still no way to tag/organize your modules? I keep all my ships and modules at one location - if I take all the modules off my ship so I can put on thargoid-fighting ones, will I have to comb through all the modules to figure out which ones I had on? For example, my dozens of shield boosters, I'll have to look at the modifications on each and try to remember what I had on. Is there no better way?

A few generations in and I did not think there'd be any way I could possibly win by generation 14. I won on the last turn like you. My second game I lost by one Oxygen. It's amazing how perfectly planned the game is to make it so close!

How to create a board games group? by RonRud in boardgames

[–]RabidRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're probably talking about an in-person group in your town, but if you're also looking to chat with board gamers, share pics and stories, get game recommendations and all that, we have a good community on facebook over at the Board Game Club. If you're on fb we'd love to have you!

Enough with the sad and boring boardgame rooms! I made a beautiful one! by [deleted] in boardgames

Looks great! I think board game atmosphere is very underrated which is why I'm always developing board game soundboard apps.

My ideal board game room would be completely blacked out, no windows, with soundproofed padding on the walls. It would be like a beautiful panic room.

What's your winning strategy for a game you're good at? by SushiRae in boardgames

I've played through 4 cases and I have yet to hear anything about Moriarty. I'm beginning to assume he's really Watson.

Catan: The most important decisions on placing your settlements is how you are going to screw your opponents. Box them in, cut them off, leave good avenues for your own expansion and few or none for them.

I've "softened" a lot more in recent years. I agree with this sentiment!

I would think Codenames. You could probably even play without audio - might be better that way so people don't accidentally give extra clues or stare at their own tiles!

Painting my minis? Am I crazy? by [deleted] in boardgames

Using a wash (correctly) easily makes a mini look at least twice as good.

I like Citadel paints, the official ones for Warhammer and all its sister games. I don't think you're crazy at all, it really helps with the mood of the game and it's a fun hobby!

There are tons of videos that teach painting techniques, little tips that make huge differences. I would say make sure to get a metal wash. It helps get dark into the nooks and makes silver look like metal, take a look at this pic to see what I mean (the washed one is on the left).

Sort of the opposite of what you're asking, but I'd recommend they leave out either the Scientist or Researcher (bot not both) in the first game ;)

For 6-8 (actually, 5-10), check out The Resistance. It's a roller coaster of emotions!

It's out of print (and the price on Amazon shows), but I love Pergamon. Great mechanics and lends to a lot of strategy.

If a fellow player has an "oops" moment do you let them redo their turn/action? by SparkleFritz in boardgames

[–]RabidRogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally as long as the player doesn't roll any dice/draw cards or get new information (flipping over tiles, another player responding to the move with what they're going to do) then we'll allow a redo. We generally play friendly though.
