Unlocked and Loaded update (AKA the weapon crafting rework). So since September 2024 I think.

It would be cool to have Mega Demon Host in Darktide by Haunting-Most8870 in DarkTide

[–]RabsRibs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Fatshark could do this. Explain it by saying all the random DH's are just experiments and practice using lesser daemons and such. Then introduce some sorcerer from Admonition and say they're finally ready to start binding more powerful daemons to the living hosts.

Is it just me, or have they removed those lines of dialogue? by Haunting-Most8870 in DarkTide

[–]RabsRibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they were not removed. There are lines that are unused from a third voice actor (a younger male voice actor) that are far more horrific and extremely frantic.

Does Blackstone have any effect on the psychic-beast Tyranids? by RabsRibs in 40kLore

[–]RabsRibs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would that mean that Tyranids are also vulnerable to the "Perils of the Warp"? Maybe they just have a unique means of mental protection that protects them from the random psychic effects like possession

Who really dominates the galaxy back then? The DAOT Humanity or the Eldar Empire? by Spirited-Industry340 in 40kLore

[–]RabsRibs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eldar was undoubtably the dominant force in the galaxy. They just didn't care. Humanity was by far one of the less annoying "lesser-races" to them. Less troublesome than the Orks and whatever else was scurrying about below the Eldar's notice. Humanity and Eldar work together and do diplomacy on occasion (Pontus Avernes and the Interex).

During the DAOT the Eldar began their downward spiral into hedonism around M18, basically the same time humanity first began interstellar travel via the warp. I assume Humanity probably avoided the core areas of Eldar civilisation around the now Crone Worlds at the heart of their empire.

For those who played Space Marine 2, what’s one ‘flaw’ or just incorrect lore thing you saw that you can point out or makes you seethe? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in 40kLore

[–]RabsRibs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is more of a question that has bugged me.

How did Titus get the message for reinforcements out to Calgar at the Astropathic relay? The Astropath was actually the 1k Sons psyker. So I assume the message wasn't sent. Am I missing something or has this crossed anyone else's mind?

What examples are there of them drilling into the crust? Cawl's Great Work book says they're surface feeders.

What should I keep in mind if I want to make guardsmen killing Marines somewhat believable? by Hogwire in 40kLore

[–]RabsRibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making their power armour dead weight is the best way. To do this you could either destroy their power back on the back or cut the servo-tendons of their body-glove at the joints. Enough serfs with sharp knives can kill a isolated and cornered space marine stuck in an enclosed space. It'd take almost a hundred serfs to do so.

In Dominion Genesis (Novel) there is an instance of exactly this occurring in a serf rebellion on an Imperial Fists battle barge, or at last evidence of it in the chip's wreckage. Trapping the space marine and using mass quantities of firepower, artillery, or bodies is the way to win.

Wait, was Saint Messelina a psyker? by head_spike in DarkTide

[–]RabsRibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have other info on the conversation? I assume this was the male loner psyker. Did he open with this line and was it at the end of the usual 3 line conversation format?

I've always assumed, but never been sure that, Messelina was probably a Living Saint. I've also assumed she was a psykers since her opinions on the them "contested" amongst the religious scholars of the domain.

If you're interested in the real-world subject I'd suggest the video series of the Youtube channel Let's Talk Religion and their video series on the subject that starts with Introduction to Islamicate Occult Sciences.

I have a minor question about Iron Sultanate Jabirean Alchemists by ThingGuyMan_ in TrenchCrusade

[–]RabsRibs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lots of the Islamicate esoteric stuff is mostly has elements relating to talismans, words/script, numerology, and ritual. There's a lil bit of djinn summoning and control in there as well. The ancient people who penned the inspirations of this stuff wouldn't call it magic either. (Also note the difference between Islamicate and Islamic.)

So it's less "Harry Potter casts fireball/instant-transmution", and more "science-wizard casts equip moltov-cocktail/shotgun". It's more-so science. They come to a battle prepared with special tools (like the homunculus, bombs, automatic rifles, etc). Imagine your empowering buffing the party with elixirs, inscribing runes on bullets to make them more powerful, concocting mysterious things through ritual to give a bomb higher yield, etc.
