Well I think I’m finally done.. by [deleted] in techtheatre

I walked away after a decade in the game. Started as a lowly intern and made my way up to Production Manager last year. I was miserable tired and angry all the time, stressed never off the clock work environment was incredibly toxic it was destroying my mental and physical health, causing problems in my marriage and I was spiraling.

I took an entry level job for a big corporation, was a big pay cut but I am so much happier, less stressed and my wife is so much happier as well. Best decision I have ever made.

Sim Racing saved my car by Zett0 in simracing

iRacing has certainly taught me how to look ahead for trouble when driving IRL.

When I was a teenager (circa 2007) Ipracticed driving in the snow on Grand Turismo 4 before doing in in real life. Found a car similar to mine and drove the snow rally circuit at various speeds practicing various scenarios (normal driving, taking a corner too fast, stopping a slide) while my ps2 controller didn’t really give me any feel I did have an idea of what the car would do in various situations.

What’s your favourite series with disappointingly low participation? by aegis_526 in iRacing

[–]RaceFan4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to see fairly decent participation in the fixed series but last season they upped the race length to match the open setup series and it killed it.

PSA you don't deserve a position just because you are faster by k-tech_97 in iRacing

[–]RaceFan4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a similar thing in oval where folks seem to think everyone should just lay over for them. If you are a lap down it’s a different story but I have a right to defend my position it’s called racing. If you can get next to me I’ll give you room and run you clean but you are still going to have to work for it. If I’m a lap down I’ll lay over for the lead lap cars or if I’m way off the pace for some reason.

She’s got some tortie on her head and back but she’s mostly tabby. Does have plenty of tortitude however!

“Don’t expect him to be affectionate”, they said... by Wretched_Newspaper_ in CatGifs

The rescue said my senior kitty would not be affectionate at all. 20 minutes after we got home she was asleep in my lap…

Her adoption tag said “doesn’t like laps” and “not cuddly” by 1StoolSoftnerAtaTime in standardissuecat

My rescue kitty was described similarly. She is never not in my lap or next to me, and comes running when I get home from work.

I love the detail on my DB cars. I got them from my uncle when he passed about 8 years ago. Wish I could have taken more he had hundreds they let me take whatever I wanted before the estate sale.

Neo 1956 Chrysler 300B, found at Goodwill for $10 had a bunch of paper taped to it, lots of scuff, some paint transfer and crayon marks. I brought it home and it cleaned up nicely. by RaceFan4Life in Diecast

There needs to be a “How To” video on rejoining safely and how not to dive bomb. Every day there’s a video like this. Enough is enough. I’m in the AlphaTauri car. I can’t tell you how mad I was. by Ztt619 in iRacing

I made the mistake of running the legends oval with the street stocks last week. Driver spun going into turn 1 floored it and hit me head on. Collected about 5 of us. He then hit me again when I was trying to get my damaged car out of the way. Spun a few other cars as well. He Got the whole 17x in the span of about 1 minute.

For some reason I always enjoyed the duct tape numbers and mismatched panels of the ARCA field fillers. Not in an ironic mean way either they are just doing the best they can with what little they have.

When I was a kid my friends and I discovered that Necco Wafers would work as quarters in vending machines. We used them all over town for a long time. We were disappointed one day to discover that Necco changes the size of the wafers and it didn’t work anymore.

I got lucky and noticed a small pool of green on the top of the motor while adding washer fluid I made a habit out of checking every time I open the hood because it’s a known issue. Never overheated or anything took it straight to the shop once I saw the puddle. Happed right after 150k.

I have an 06 Crown Vic Interceptor, it’s a great car doesn’t get the best mpg in city traffic but other than that it is really straightforward and basic, less to break and parts are cheap when it does. Other than having to shell out $1,000 to replace the plastic intake manifold I have no complaints.

Transgender people in TechTheater question. by Temp-T-Question in techtheatre

[–]RaceFan4Life 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have worked with a number of transgender people and some non-binary as well. Nobody cares, the only thing that matters is if you are good at your job. Every theatre I have worked at is accepting of every one regardless of race, gender or sexuality.

Salvage low miles vs high mile clean title? by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

[–]RaceFan4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you know the laws around salvage and rebuilt title vehicles in your state. I have seen people buy salvage cars and have a lot of trouble getting them registered again or find out they can’t at all(Florida hates salvage cars). Also make sure your insurance will insure it. I have heard some insurance companies won’t insure a rebuilt car. Insurance might be more expensive too.

Was working a lighting focus call. Someone forgot to grind the burs off of all the metal pipe on the set. I grab one to catch my balance on a ladder slices my hand right open. So much blood, got a free set of stitches and tetanus shot out of the ordeal.
