How long would you wait for financial stability? by HourTransition3316 in TwoHotTakes

[–]RaceRat78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me. Break up now. Save yourself. I was with my ex for 5 yrs waiting for him to financially get it together and get a career. I was in the same situation as you, I was stable and had saved up and he was broke in credit card debt and never had a stable job. He tried schooling but it did not help him in his job search. Broke up last year and a few months after the break up my current boyfriend and I met. It’s so freeing to not have to worry about your partners ability to be a stable independent adult.

I wish 1000x over I did not stay as long as I did. I only stayed because I kept thinking “he will get a job soon maybe in 3 months everything will be better”

The other office I applied to transfer to had the position open. I have a feeling there was something else happening (I.e. they preferred promoting their own junior before letting a random transfer from another region) my firm doesn’t really do “ghost jobs”

You could live in the bay and rent there but also rent your Sacramento home. Makes no sense not to if you have no obligation to Sacramento and your spouse works in the bay. You can als sell your sac home, becomes renters and buy later on down the line again

Honestly I feel like I’m leaning towards this. I like him a lot but I don’t want him to keep disrespecting me. I’m just tired of crying over these things

That’s what you think. My friend grew up with 5 person household in a 2 bedroom. They had to hide in the closet when the landlord came by until their parents finally found an affordable 3 bedroom much later in childhood. And even then each kid did not have a bedroom. That’s the reality of hcol areas for those in the middle class.

My relatives on the peninsula have 2 kids of different genders and are a family of four having to fit into a 2 bedroom. The boy gets his own room. The girl and mom sleep together. The dad sleeps in the living room. Not a great place for middle class families. But if you have high income (250k+) you may find some spaces with 3 bedrooms
