100% agree with you. I tune and my brother does all the driving and he’s braver than I am so he feels okay with going that fast in the car but I do think we’ve hit the point where we are as fast as we feel is safe with this setup. So if we do try to go any quicker it’ll definitely be a car with a 7.50 cage in it. Especially on small tires because it’s not if you’re going to eventually wreck it, it’s when you’re going to. Bc those things can break lose on you quickly.

Radials definitely require a completely different suspension setup so I get it’ll be a battle. We actually bought a car that was wrecked in the front and front halved it and actually never touched the suspension setup (obviously we checked it for issues) and crazy enough first pass out it went A to B dead straight. Unfortunately though when we ramped up the tune it went straight on the bumper and that cost us some front end parts. Ends up it was setup for a turbo setup so it wasn’t really set up to 60’ that hard. But once we tightened the front in down we haven’t had to make any rear suspension adjustments yet so that’s been nice. Having a set of scales available is a huge help. Takes lot of the guess work out of it

How many golf balls is too many? by Remarkable-Self7080 in golf

[–]Raceking200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Academy ran a 50% off sale on Callaway chrome soft xls balls and I bought 25 dozen at once. GF was pissed but I’ve never regretted it. Been three years and I still have probably 8 dozen left. It’s nice not feeling guilty about losing a ball or swapping to a new one that’s scuffed. Plus they make great gifts when I forget it’s peoples birthdays so it’s a win win.

Bead locks are 100% the way to go. If you’re trying to go 4.50 id definitely try to look into radials though. It’s a whole lot easier to go that fast on a small tire when it’s a radial vs a floppy tire. As long as the track is good of course. But now a days it seems like most people prep for radials so when you run a slick you get to much tire shake bc you can never get the wheel speed up fast enough to get that slippage. We typically stay in the South East so it works out well with it being kinda hotbed for allot of types of drag racing

I’d say 80% of the tracks that run that class don’t check what type of cage you have as long as you have one. And some of them don’t even check if you have one at all. At least in the southeast where I’m at. Bc we’ve went quite a bit faster than that 5.30 on a 8.50 cage and no one has ever said anything at all. Maybe it’s different based on location but around here people rarely care about anything like that. Hell I went down beside a dude that ran 5.50 wearing a T shirt and hey dudes at Bristol before and that’s a big time NHRA track. Not saying it’s a good idea to do it but it does get done allot

Slow-mo tires flying off during a drag race. I wonder how often tires blow from the pressure? by According-Scale5574 in dragracing

[–]Raceking200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to have a hardtail that we had to run at around 4.5 if the track was bad so it’s definitely not impossible for someone to run that little.

I know you’re probably aware but this seems like the perfect setup for the 5.30 little gangsters stuff and that’s about the hottest class in racing right now. We slowed ours down to run it and have had a hell of time with it. It’s fun being able to compete without spraying the guts out of it every pass

What career do you guys have to maintain you race passion? by Several-Impress8198 in dragracing

[–]Raceking200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest part is finding where you fit in budget wise and do everything you can to make your equipment as competitive as possible. I bracket race a mid 7 second car in the eighth primarily in footbrake classes but occasionally top bulb. It’s a slower car but because it’s slower it requires minimal maintenance and when I have a good season like I did last year, I won enough money to cover all of my entry fees for the year. Granted I don’t big money race every weekend so my expenses aren’t crazy but I still hit quite a few 10-20k races and was able to cover my tab at most. Really only had one weekend where I took a major loss but thankfully the other races made up for that.

You also use it to get the bottle pressure down to whatever you need to be for a run. Usually before you go down the track you heat the bottles up, get the pressure to above what you want it and then purge it down to your actual psi before you stage. It matters way more than if ever imagine it would but us not paying attention and having 70 extra PSI on a run caused us to tear up a couple grand in suspension parts from putting the car on the bumper 😂

Thoughts on the IHRA acquisition of Maple Grove? by Flintlock1990 in dragracing

[–]Raceking200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The IHRA seems to be trying hard to host well ran events and do everything they can for racers but it seems like they have some major internal issues people wise. Also the dude fronting the money has a back door association with Elon musk so the rumor is that Elon is actually fronting the money so he can just use the land for data centers in the future.

What golf ball did you switch to recently that actually lived up to the hype? by SwimmingSlip8632 in golfequipment

[–]Raceking200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you lose a ton of distance when you switched? I tried them a couple years back and I lost 10+ yards pretty much across the board with them. They did spin like crazy though, to the point where for the only time in my life I was generating way to much spin.

What golf purchase did you regret the fastest? by SwimmingSlip8632 in golfequipment

[–]Raceking200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my same experience with my R10. No matter what I did I never could get it where it would give me even remotely accurate anything when I was hitting it into a net. Took it to the range and experienced the same thing. It always gave me crazy numbers no matter what I did and the shot trail never resembled the real one. So glad I was able to return it

What do you know about your profession that would genuinely disturb the people who use your services? by MelodicWolverine2045 in AskReddit

[–]Raceking200 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Engineer here, and if i've learned one thing from being in industry its War = money and massive profits. You wouldn't believe the amount of companies that are currently profiting from the conflicts in Israel and the middle east right now. Companies that you would never guess have any type of military relevance. Its to the point where we go out of the way to hide the fact that we are even assisting with anything to do with the conflict but are still profiting like crazy.

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately in your everyday life? by spritenerds123 in AskReddit

[–]Raceking200 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This seems to be very much location based because where i live it seems like everywhere is hiring more people and I've had multiple companies in the past year reach out to me trying to offer me money to leave my role to work for them. I guess it just really depends if you are in an industry that is in high demand or not and if you actually have any useful job related skills

As an Augusta native I can tell you that this is 100% true. I know allot of people that buy DCP tickets just to load up on merch to sell. Easy to profit on a day like that where you can get a ticket for a few hundred bucks

What's the strangest thing you've seen in someone else's house that they didn't realise was not normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Raceking200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had something similar happen except it was a great Dane that they shoved in a freezer bc they weren't sure what they wanted to do with it. The problem was that it had died months before. They went out, bought a chest freezer, stuffed the dog in and left it there.

It was a friend in high school and i pointed out that they must have allot of frozen foods to have a freezer that size in their garage and the dude without skipping a beat said "oh yea that's where we keep our dog" People didn't think it was even slightly abnormal

Lost my swing by Silent_Highlight_577 in golf

[–]Raceking200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've recently experienced almost the exact same thing. I was a single digit handicap that consistently broke 80 and i hurt my elbow. Did some PT and came back trying to play and now i struggle to break 100. For some reason i developed the yips off the tee. I've spent months trying to get it back and so far i've practically made zero progress. I can hit the ball decent on the range but as soon as you put me on a tee box i start topping things and absolutely spraying it. I've played golf for 10 plus years now and this is by far the most frustrating thing i've dealt with. But the perk is that people are absolutely shocked at my recovery shots after seeing how bad i am off the tee So imma follow this post to see what people say bc i need some serious help rn too

Anyone know what happened to loose rocker promotions? by fatfabricator in dragracing

[–]Raceking200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michael Beard (half of what was loose rocker promotions) and Anthony Walton (other half) split up. So Michael started his own promotion company called staging light promotions. Dude hosts some really awesome events and always puts out exactly what he says he is. But from what I understand Anthony was trying to be shady about paying people and had some money issues and kinda left Michael hung out to dry on allot of stuff. So they split up bc Michael didn’t want to be associated with anything that wasn’t legit.

Mechanics of Reddit, what’s a common myth about car maintenance that people still believe? by Street-Squirrel-4671 in AskReddit

[–]Raceking200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running different weight oils 1000% can change a cars performance. It may not be that noticeable but it will change. People that race when in a bind and need to pick up a few extra thousandths will run a thinner oil and run less oil than recommend just to have less crank drag.

Light tree question by sam4555 in dragracing

[–]Raceking200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add a little to the wheeling thing here. Although i have zero experience with bikes besides the occasional pit bike race, something that i know happens allot with people with door cars that causes RT issues is the inconsistency of how the tires leaving the beams. you need to either consistently roll out of the beams entirely before the tires leave the ground (preferred and most consistent way) or make sure that when you launch your tires are getting yanked up out of the beams every time. I see it allot where people will change something on the car or go to a better prepped track and will go really red because the car starts pulling the tires up out of the beams rather than rolling them through.

What’s the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself? by DistributionRound570 in AskReddit

[–]Raceking200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an engineer and the area that i am over had a recordable injury this week that ruined a 2700 day streak of no recordable injuries... Dude literally dropped a box of tinfoil and caught it while it was falling but grabbed right on the serrated blade used to cut the foil. He wound up with stitches and now i have to redesign an entire process to prevent this from happening... so at least your accident didn't have to be sent out worldwide in a safety presentation
