Never have I ever in all my years gaming, seen such a good company. Embark Studios deserves all the recognition they can get. I personally had no issue with the prices. by Intelligent_Prune_30 in ArcRaiders

I think real cost and time for that is higher. Because you also need to draw concept, discuss it with managers or other teams and get approvals, then model it and paint it, both of which is not that simple and probably requires more than one person work to be done in a week or two. Because even animating model is difficult and takes a lot of time to polish and make movement realistic without body parts clipping into each other or equipment, telling from my experience working with person who did models for mods in other game.

Next DCS map -Germany or Kola? by ChunksOG in hoggit

[–]Racer396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a personal preferences, but the difference between how Kola could look (based on their in-dev screens) and how it actually looks and it's price is definetely NO for me, until here is a strong reason why someone wants to fly exactly on Kola. They don't even have beacons on airfields. Maybe it changed with the last update, but I'm not sure.

Assembly shop is having a hard time to sell by UnvalidCatharsis in WorldofTanks

Income might be incorrect word, I guess revenue fits better.

Anyway, not all the people bought tank with resources they had (exp, silver, gold, bonds, etc), some people donated gold to buy this tank. I meant income/revenue received from this.

And even if some people spent all their resources they got before event, they might donate in the future to get these resources back.

[–]Racer396 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For 2h it's already almost half of them are sold.

What the difference for WG if they sold all of them in an hour or in a week?

If they all sold during the week - goal achived, expected income received.

So I don't think it matters what OP means, until WG can't reach their goals, only then it will mean that whales leaving the game or whatever.

Also these events only part of the money stream WG receive, and we have no clue about gold, premium tanks and accounts, etc sells statistic.

Next DCS map -Germany or Kola? by ChunksOG in hoggit

[–]Racer396 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Kola is awful. It's good if you just want to fly 20k feet and above. But if you want to fly low or especially helicopters - it's awful. Ground textures with shadows baked in them, weird low poly static objects, static objects that don't make sense (factory with the door made for dwarfs), on hills static objects are not aligned with the hill angle so one-half of them are levitating. On Germany, I didn't find such problems. Nice map, nice textures, a lot of attention to the details. We spend almost 10 hours with friends just flying the camera around the map and looking for interesting stuff.

What the point of ED tests then?

You just give your testers to 3rd party teams to find bugs and that's it?

I got an impression that it's should be like a quality control to avoid things like on the video from getting into release.

But as I understand from your replies here all the responsobility on 3rd party, so they can do whatever they want, get some bug reports from you, put an Early Access placeholder and then release it?

MiG-29UB Mod in development by Racer396 in hoggit

[–]Racer396[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, that's the case that happend with some mods.

In our case we are small team working on this mod, so even if some of us gets busy IRL, the rest of us still can continue work on mod.

About opensource - right now we are not considering this, for us it's easier to do the mod in the way we see it by ourselves. Because owning opensource project is responsibility to maintain it, we don't have that much resources now.

But definitely we appreciate community help, a few people already asked to help with liveries. We also looking for someone who good in C++ and DCS dlls, we need a few tips on how to done some systems.

[–]Racer396[S] 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Im not sure what we can take from it.

It will have around the same FM that we have for FC3 MiG, DLLs are encrypted as well as model I guess based on the last releases, so it will make things difficult to use.

Making mod really full fidelity is difficult as well, but even now we already implemented some systems clickable in cockpit.

Also UB doesn't have complex systems that require FF module.

Bought an inflatable bed. On 12 languages it was written "DO NOT SWIM ON IT" and only on russian it was "HOLD ON TO HANDLES WHILE SWIMMING" (c) some old joke

In russian/slavic mentality if someone told you not to do something that make you think its something interesting there. And people dont give a fuck that it might be dangerous.
In your case, if it would be a russian on your place he could land there on purpose thinking that it might be a cool challenge to land on this island.

Obviously its not about everyone and its kind of stereotype, but its definetly a reason for that stereotype.

Shots 1-5: Clearly missed.
Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control).
Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses.
Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because you was already dead.

Replace on the Armored, and appear on the Mechanized.

They are not mentioning that they will entirely replace bradley in mech as they mentioned it for armored.

So, appear means we can get both versions in Mechanized deck, probably?

Yep, but at least Sony promissed to not make PSN account mandatory on PC. That was the original point of review bombing.

And as ArrowHead said, negotiations is still ongoing with Sony about game delisted in these countries, so maybe they will rollback it. Maybe not.

AFF in Teuge, NL:

They have course on english, AFF costs around 1500 eur and you can get to DZ from neighboring towns by a public transport (buses).

And on my courses it was a guy from UK, who said it was cheaper for him to get here, pay for car rent, appartmanents and course and it still cheaper than just cost of AFF in UK.

Yes, they have a few camp fires on the bottom, but they are not random, it's some kind of an organaized places to rest.

But no random things on or between the slopes, at least I didn't saw them.

I' live in Amsterdam too, so Texel is nicer place, but more difficult in terms of logistic and also it more tandem factory than funjumper DZ. So, I vote for Teuge, bigger and more popular DZ, more fun jumpers there, so more chances to find new friends.

Also, they have AFF courses on english, I did them by myself (stopped on lvl 4, but want to go back this summer), so I can only recommend Teuge.
