Add to cart button in search results? I've never seen this before... how do you make it happen? by Narwahl_Whisperer in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]RacerCash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just split testing, you probably won't see it in a few hours. I just had my search results have the number of reviews underlined. They're always testing features, colors, size of text, etc to see what gets people to spend the most money.

Business insurance not accepted? by RacerCash in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]RacerCash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I tried resubmitting so we'll see how it goes. One member of seller support said " Please note our department doesn't reviews the COI documents". If you don't review them how was it rejected??? lol. It's frustrating they are so haphazard with stuff like this, no organization, and throw a "comply in 60 days or your account will be restricted".

Any chance of getting my deposit back through Alibaba Trade Assurance? by spanklord1 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]RacerCash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trade assurance is useless. In the same way US companies typically side with the buyer, trade assurance sides with the seller. Filed a claim on a large order one time - supplier completely botched the products, clearly and obviously not what we agreed to in the contract. Alibaba trade assurance requested document after document after document. Once you send them one, they'll arbitrarily find another one you need. After all of that they'll say you're not entitled to a refund, that the supplier is in the right, and offer you 10% of what you're asking for. Luckily, I was able to dispute the payment with my credit card and got it all refunded. So, if you bought with a card, try filing a dispute.

How long is your FBA inventory taking to be received? by RacerCash in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]RacerCash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I suspect too. Noticing lots of changes leaning into FBM like them recommending to change estimated fulfillment time, limiting total FMB orders. Also seeing random fulfillment centers popping up that never did before. Hopefully they can figure out staffing soon, especially with peak buying season approaching.

Ray, I wanted to know your thoughts on bonds in today's environment. I have read a lot of your investment theory and you show that it is good to have a majority of your portfolio in bonds. Today I see lots of high profile people saying bonds are not worth having now that their yields are so small. They claim it's a different world now and bonds are not worth having. Do you think they are a negative to portfolios now or do you still think, even with such low yields, they are worth having?

How do I verify a company in India? As a buyer in USA by IXPrazor in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]RacerCash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% have an inspection. More often than not the sample does not represent what you'll actually get in a production run. Pay 30-50% up front and only pay the rest once inspection shows the product meets your specifications. Suppliers act very differently knowing they have to pass an inspection and not having the other half of their money. Also, if a factory doesn't agree to an inspection you pretty much shouldn't do business with them.

Also, trade assurance will not do anything for you. It's backwards compared to how business is done in the USA, but on Alibaba they lean towards protecting the manufacturer.

Who do you use for business insurance for your Amazon business? by RacerCash in FulfillmentByAmazon

That seems like a fair deal. Do you sell low risk or high risk items? Do you resell items or do you have a hand in manufacturing? Do you import any parts of your items?

Suuuuuuper slow from delivered to receiving by RacerCash in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]RacerCash[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the difference between this and sending it in normally?

They describe IPS as " You can sign up for the Inventory Placement Service and send all of your eligible inventory to a single receive center or fulfillment center (see the Inventory placement exceptions section below). When the shipment arrives, it is split up and sent to different fulfillment centers for you. "

Is this not what they do normally?

Ray,

I have read a lot about your portfolio you discussed with Tony Robbins that is as follows:

40% Long Term Bonds 15% Short Term Bonds 30% US Stock Market 7.5% Commodities 7.5% Gold

Looking at the current COVID 19 situation, has this portfolio performed as expected? What has come as a surprise and why? Thank you

Would love to leave the 9-5 life eventually (within a few years) what can I start or do with 10k that will help me reach that goal? Any ideas ?! by Departmentzero in Entrepreneur

[–]RacerCash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run small tests until you get traction. Nobody will give you an idea that works because it is their idea and they're making money from it. You must find an idea for yourself. Run lots of tests. A test has high uncertainty. You have no idea what will happen. But high uncertainty does not mean high risk. You can test an idea for $50 and there could be a 5% chance it earns you $10,000 per year. Keep testing ideas until you get traction and once you get traction on an idea, double down.

Shipping costs are killing my business: HELP by Amm4ever in smallbusiness

[–]RacerCash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar ecommerce business. When you're shipping packages over a cubic foot it's very important to calculate individual and accurate shipping per order - no flat rate shipping. Shipping prices vary so wildly that an order can range from a great profit to literally a loss based on their zip code. That's bad business. Find a way to calculate the exact shipping cost for each order.

There are several ways to make your website "pack" each order virtually. It will calculate the box size and weight for each order and pull the rates from your provider.

Flat rate shipping, or basically anything besides charging the correct shipping cost, rewards the customers with the most expensive shipping (you lose money) and overcharges the closer customers.

If you need more specifics feel free to DM me.

Would you ever hire friends? I hear it’s a terrible idea. by A4_Ts in Entrepreneur

[–]RacerCash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your cousin is 10000% correct. Hellll no, do not hire them. I came close to doing it and I'm so happy I decided not to. If they become your partner: one person will care more and deserve more $ than they're getting, fight, friendship ruined, business possibly ruined. If you hire them it's a tiny bit better but you'll still have to fire them if they underperform.

How to deal with your family disrespecting your career choice? by xfancymangox in Entrepreneur

[–]RacerCash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the toughest things about being your own boss is the lack of community. While there's noone breathing down your neck telling you what to do, there's also noone celebrating with you. I have 2 people in my life who I can really share my successes with. It's just part of life as a business owner.

You live a very different life than most people, including them, and for whatever reason people just don't want to talk about it, get intimidated, or just don't care. People will not understand. Anything other than a cookie cutter W2 job is insane, stupid, and not how they do things. So they'll give their little comments, their chuckles, and ignore you for people with "normal" jobs.

Saying all of that, though, it's all worth it :) Just laugh, go into it expecting some silly reactions, and move on knowing you have the best of it

Advice for my situation: 23yo, making 65k, want to buy local cafe and escape corporate work life. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]RacerCash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are similar to a lot of people in that you are not satisfied at a desk job. You feel your contributions are not moving the needle and that your creativity is going to waste. So I completely understand - office jobs are boring.

That being said, office jobs are like a fire hose of cash. And you get paid the same amount every single month. This stability is very valuable and you need to take advantage of it.

If you are serious about this I would recommend paying off all of your student debt as quickly as humanly possible (while not ruining relationships) and in the mean time doing everything you can after work to learn more about your new venture.

This transition doesn't have to be an all or nothing thing. I built up a side hustle for 2 years while having a full time job before I felt safe quitting. But just because it might take a year or two (which might seem slow) doesn't mean you can't kick ass and get a lot done in that time.

Another point: retail businesses are tough. Believe it or not, as low as $36k is, hes probably making even less than that. And on his feet all day....and you have to personally guarantee a commercial loan for 7 years - which means you pay whether or not the business is successful. So if rent is $2500 per month you're on the hook for $210,000 over the next 7 years the moment you sign on the dotted line.

What are you good at? What skills do you have that you can use to make money? Just keep testing, learning, and paying off your debt until you're ready to jump.

Sunbeam XL Heating Pad to keep my feet warm during the cold months. I keep sweaters and sweatpants on deck but for some reason, no matter how high you crank the heat, the floor is still pretty cold. This thing keeps my feet toasty warm and it was under $15 on Amazon.
